Season 3 lands June 16 — and it brings Garrosh with it
Blizzard has put dates on the next round of Mists of Pandaria Classic endgame: Celestial Dungeon Season 3 switches on with the weekly reset on Tuesday, June 16, and the new Diamond tier of Challenge Modes follows one week later, on Tuesday, June 23. If you have been waiting for a reason to dust off your dungeon team, this is it.
What changes inside the Celestial Dungeons
Season 3 is not just a stat bump, though the stat bump is there too. The Kor'kron have moved in, and the dungeons fight back harder than before:
- Glory to the True Horde — every creature in the Celestial Dungeons hits harder and carries more health this season.
- Kor'kron Banners — war banners are now planted along the routes, and any enemy standing near one gets empowered. Expect pulls to punish sloppy positioning until someone deals with the banner.
- Garrosh's influence — periodically a boss falls under Garrosh Hellscream's sway and borrows an ability from one of his Siege of Orgrimmar lieutenants. General Nazgrim, Wavebinder Kardis and Siegecrafter Blackfuse all make an appearance through these stolen mechanics, so veterans of the Siege will recognize what is coming a split second before it lands.
The Celestials answer back
It is not all bad news for players. When all four August Celestials are summoned at the same time, the sky itself changes and the group receives Celestial Witness — a long-duration buff that raises your damage and healing while cutting the damage you take. Planning your summons so the whole group benefits at the right moment looks like it will be a real piece of season strategy, not just a cosmetic flourish.
Diamond Challenge Modes and the Celestial Ox
The bigger prestige race starts June 23, when Diamond difficulty joins the Challenge Mode ladder. The headline reward for clearing Diamond times in Season 3 is the Celestial Ox transformation mount — easily one of the most distinctive rewards on offer in MoP Classic right now. If golds were your ceiling in earlier seasons, Diamond is being positioned as the next step up, and the timer windows are expected to demand clean routes, coordinated cooldowns and near-zero deaths.
How to get ready this week
- Lock in a consistent five-player roster now — Diamond times will not be friendly to pug roulette.
- Re-learn the Siege of Orgrimmar lieutenant mechanics; they are coming back at you inside dungeons.
- Practice banner-priority targeting with your group so empowered packs do not snowball.
- Bank consumables and flasks before the June 16 reset — prices always spike on season day.
If your schedule does not leave room for the grind, our MoP Classic team runs Celestial Dungeons and Challenge Mode timers all season — timed clears, the new Diamond push included, with you in the group or piloted. Either way, the Ox is within reach.
