To get to Zereth Mortis, travel to Oribos and take the Zereth Mortis portal in the Ring of Fates. The very first time, you must complete the Shadowlands campaign through Chains of Domination (patch 9.1), then pick up the patch 9.2 intro quest "The Last Sigil" from the Enlightened envoy in Oribos. Finishing that intro opens the zone and adds a permanent portal you can reuse forever.

  1. Get to Oribos. Use the Shadowlands portal in Stormwind (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde), or the Chromie Time / Dragonflight portal routes if you're leveling old content.
  2. Progress the Shadowlands campaign. Reach max level for the expansion and complete the Night Fae/Necrolord/Venthyr/Kyrian storyline through Chains of Domination.
  3. Accept "The Last Sigil." The Enlightened representative near the Oribos ring flags you for the 9.2 opening chapter.
  4. Fly through the intro. A short escorted sequence drops you into Zereth Mortis and unlocks the reusable portal in Oribos.
  5. Return anytime. After the first visit, just click the Zereth Mortis portal in the Ring of Fates.

Do you need to finish the whole campaign first?

Yes, for your first character. Zereth Mortis is gated behind completing the Shadowlands story up to and including Chains of Domination. Once you clear the 9.2 intro on one character, alts on the same account get a faster catch-up path and can head straight to the portal much sooner.

How do you get to Oribos?

From your capital city, use the Shadowlands portal in the Stormwind or Orgrimmar portal room. If you're leveling through older content with Chromie Time, talk to Chromie to set your timeline, or use the Dragonflight/current-expansion travel hubs, which still keep a Shadowlands link back to Oribos.

What is there to do in Zereth Mortis?

It's the final Shadowlands zone and home to the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid, the Sanctum of Domination follow-up story, the Cypher of the First Ones progression system, and your automa companion Pocopoc. You'll grind cyphers, hunt rare mobs, chase the Cyberax and Vombata mounts, and finish the Jailer's saga.

Can you skip straight to the portal on a new character?

Not entirely. New level-70 or boosted characters still need to run the Shadowlands campaign chapters before the 9.2 intro unlocks. There's no purchasable shortcut in-game, but the questline is quick to burn through solo once you know the path.

If you'd rather not grind the whole Shadowlands campaign just to reach one zone, PewPewShop offers coaching and rent-a-pro progression help from vetted, long-standing human players who can guide you through the fastest unlock route and even the Sepulcher raid alongside you.
