WoW Classic has eight reputation levels: Hated, Hostile, Unfriendly, Neutral, Friendly, Honored, Revered, and Exalted. Most factions place you at Neutral (0 points) by default. From there it takes 42,000 reputation points to reach Exalted, the top tier, with new rewards unlocking as you cross Friendly, Honored, Revered, and Exalted along the way.
All 8 Classic reputation levels and point thresholds
Each standing has a set number of points before you advance. Neutral is the baseline; three levels sit below it and four above.
| Level | Points in this level | Total from Neutral |
| Hated | 36,000 | Bottom tier |
| Hostile | 3,000 | Below Neutral |
| Unfriendly | 3,000 | Below Neutral |
| Neutral | 3,000 | 0 (start) |
| Friendly | 6,000 | 3,000 |
| Honored | 12,000 | 9,000 |
| Revered | 21,000 | 21,000 |
| Exalted | Max standing | 42,000 |
How much reputation do you need for Exalted?
You need 42,000 reputation points counting up from Neutral to hit Exalted. That breaks down as 6,000 through Friendly, 12,000 through Honored, and 21,000 through Revered, plus the final push into Exalted. It's the longest grind of the four positive tiers, which is why Revered-to-Exalted feels so slow.
What do reputation levels unlock?
Rewards gate behind specific standings. Friendly and Honored often open vendor discounts and early recipes. Revered unlocks stronger gear, patterns, and quartermaster items. Exalted is where the prestige rewards live: epic mounts, rare tabards, top-tier crafting plans, and class-defining pieces from factions like Argent Dawn, Timbermaw Hold, and the Cenarion Circle.
Can reputation go down in Classic?
Yes. Killing a faction's members or doing quests for an opposing faction can drop your standing into Unfriendly, Hostile, or Hated. At Hostile and below, that faction's guards and NPCs will attack you on sight and you lose access to their vendors and flight paths.
Fastest way to grind reputation
- Repeatable turn-ins — items like Runecloth, Encrypted Texts, or faction-specific drops give steady rep.
- Dungeon farming — many factions (Argent Dawn, Thorium Brotherhood) reward rep from instance mobs and bosses.
- Quest chains — one-time quests give large rep chunks; do these before pure grinding.
- Group up — clearing rep-granting mobs is far faster with a partner or small group.
