The four raid difficulties in World of Warcraft
Every World of Warcraft raid is released across four difficulties: Raid Finder (LFR), Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. They share the same bosses and rough layout, but the experience and the rewards scale dramatically as you move up. For players focused on gearing and prestige, the meaningful comparison is between Heroic and Mythic, the two endgame tiers.
Heroic is the difficulty most progression-minded players settle into. It drops strong gear, can be done with a flexible raid size, and is challenging without demanding a fully optimized roster. Mythic is the competitive ceiling: fixed at 20 players, mechanically unforgiving, and home to the best loot and the exclusive rewards.
What actually changes between Heroic and Mythic
The jump from Heroic to Mythic is not just higher numbers. Several things change at once:
- Higher item level loot — Mythic gear is the highest tier available from the raid, a clear step above Heroic.
- Fixed 20-player size — Heroic scales from 10 to 30 players, but Mythic is locked at exactly 20, which demands a coordinated roster.
- Extra and reworked mechanics — many Mythic bosses gain additional abilities or phases that are not present on Heroic, so encounters require tighter execution.
- Exclusive rewards — the prestigious titles, the guaranteed Ahead of the Curve-style cutoffs, and certain cosmetic or mount rewards come from clearing the highest difficulties before the next tier releases.
Tier set bonuses and the Vault
Both Heroic and Mythic drop class tier set pieces, which provide powerful set bonuses that often define your build for the season. Raid completions also feed the Great Vault, unlocking a weekly reward slot at the item level of the bosses you killed. Clearing on a higher difficulty raises the quality of those Vault choices.
What a raid carry includes
A raid carry has an experienced team complete the raid with you, whether you want a smooth Heroic full clear or a coordinated Mythic kill. Depending on the option you choose, a carry typically includes:
- Full clear or selected bosses — the entire raid in one lockout, or specific bosses you need for loot or a tier piece.
- Guaranteed loot traders — on many runs, players who can trade unneeded gear to you, increasing how much you walk away with.
- Achievements and titles — end-boss kills that award the seasonal achievement and any associated title or mount.
- Self-play or piloted formats — play your own character within the group, or have the team complete the run on your behalf.
Our raid boost service covers Normal, Heroic, and Mythic difficulties, from single-boss kills to full clears with loot priority, so you can target exactly the gear and rewards you need.
Which difficulty should you boost?
If you want strong seasonal gear and tier pieces without the demands of a competitive roster, a Heroic full clear is the efficient choice. If you are chasing the highest item level, the exclusive title, or a guaranteed end-boss mount before the tier ends, a Mythic carry is the only way to get them. Knowing what each difficulty actually awards makes it easy to pick the carry that matches your goal.
