- How does gear upgrading work in WoW right now?
- Every piece of endgame gear sits on one of five tracks — Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero or Myth — with six ranks each. Each rank upgrade costs 20 Dawncrests of the item’s own track plus a small gold fee, so taking an item from 1/6 to 6/6 costs 100 crests.
- Do I still need Valorstones to upgrade gear?
- No. Valorstones were removed with the Midnight expansion. Upgrades now cost only the matching Dawncrest type and gold — this calculator reflects that and reports 0 Valorstones.
- What happened to Weathered, Carved, Runed and Gilded crests?
- Those were The War Within’s shared crest tiers. Midnight replaced them with one Dawncrest type per upgrade track (Adventurer through Myth), and an item can only be upgraded with the crest matching its own track.
- How many crests can I earn per week?
- Each Dawncrest type has its own weekly cap of 100 — enough for five rank upgrades per type per week. Mythic raid and high keys drop Myth crests; Heroic raid and mid keys drop Hero; Normal raid, low keys and high Delves drop Champion.
- Is this crest calculator up to date?
