No, not at launch. Blizzard has not announced a Shaman tank spec for WoW: Forever. In an interview with JackedIQ on October 13, 2026, the developers said Shaman tanking is a very popular topic inside the team, but Blizzard is not officially working on it right now. Forever launches on November 4 with Warriors, Druids and Paladins as its tanking classes.

What players are really asking

Is there any official Shaman tank talent in Forever?

No. The Shaman changes Blizzard has shown are for Restoration (totem sets cast in one go, a totem bar, Totemic Projection, Riptide), Elemental (Lava Burst, Lightning Overload, Fire Nova as a spell) and Enhancement (Maelstrom Weapon, Mental Quickness, Rage of the Farseer, Windfury Totem). None of them adds a shield-based tanking path. Because Enhancement is built around two-handers, the old shield-and-mace Shaman setup has no spec behind it either.

Shield-tanking Shamans in Season of Discovery do not tell you anything about Forever. Only what Blizzard publishes for Forever counts.

Could Shaman tanks arrive later?

It is possible, but nothing is promised. Blizzard said at BlizzCon that "nothing is off the table" for Forever's future, and the team admits Shaman tanking comes up a lot internally. In its interview with Inven Global, the team also said it wants to keep class identities distinct and avoid homogenization. That pulls against giving every hybrid class a tank spec. For now, think of it as a discussion and not a plan.

Which class should I roll if I want to tank at launch?

Warrior is the classic threat-and-mitigation tank. Its Protection tree has been reworked, Thunder Clap now works in Defensive Stance, and shield blocks give Rage. Pick Druid if you want a flexible character: forms can drink potions without shifting out, and dual spec at level 40 makes switching between Bear and another role easy. Paladin is the newest real option thanks to Seal of Fury, though Paladins still have no interrupt.

What does a Shaman do in Forever groups instead?

Shamans heal, deal ranged damage or melee with a two-hander. Totems are a big part of what they bring to a group. Blizzard has said it will look at whether totem buffs and similar effects stay party-wide, so that part may still change before launch. Horde Skyborne and Dwarves can now be Shamans too, alongside the original Orc, Tauren and Troll options.

If you want a tank in your group without levelling one yourself, PewPewShop's vetted human players run Forever dungeons with you as a play-together service. Beta runs start from EUR 16, and launch dungeons can be booked now for November 4.
