You cannot change a mount's drop percentage — the roll is fixed on Blizzard's side, and no item, consumable, addon, loot spec or setting alters it. What you can change is how many rolls you make: more characters through weekly lockouts, the correct difficulty, resettable instances, and swapping pure RNG for guaranteed achievement, rating and vendor mounts.
What actually changes your odds
- Alts are the only real multiplier. Legacy raid mounts lock per character, per week. Ten level-capped characters means ten rolls a week instead of one — same drop rate, ten times the attempts.
- Difficulty gates a lot of mounts. Some drop from one difficulty only. Farming the wrong one is a 0% chance no matter how many runs you stack up.
- Know the lockout type. Weekly raid IDs, daily-reset dungeon bosses, and instances you can reset on the spot are three completely different farms. Only the last one scales with your free time.
- Instance caps are the ceiling. The game limits how many instances you can enter per hour (roughly ten). That, not luck, is what caps a reset farm.
- Grouping does not split your chance. In legacy content each eligible player rolls independently, so bringing friends costs you nothing.
- Class, gear, item level, loot spec and Warmode are irrelevant to mount rolls.
Is there any item or addon that boosts mount drop rate?
No. There is no elixir, charm, toy or trinket that raises a mount's chance, and no addon can — addons only read data the client already has. Anything advertised as a "luck buff" for mounts is either a misunderstanding or a scam.
Bad luck protection does exist on a small number of drops, but it is not a global system and there is nothing you can do to trigger it.
Does farming on more alts really work?
It is the single biggest lever you have. A 1% mount behind a weekly lockout takes an expected 100 weeks on one character. Spread across ten characters, that expectation drops to about ten weeks of the same total attempts — you are just collecting them faster.
The setup cost is real: those characters need to be able to clear the content solo, which for most legacy raids means max level and reasonable gear.
How many runs does a 1% mount usually take?
Each run is an independent roll, so the odds never "build up". At 1%, you have roughly a 50% chance after 69 runs, 63% after 100, and about 95% after 300. Plenty of collectors go past 400. That is normal, not bad luck.
Which mounts have no drop rate at all?
The fastest way to add mounts is to stop rolling dice. Achievement mounts, PvP rating rewards, Mythic+ seasonal mounts, reputation and vendor mounts, Trading Post rotations and Black Market purchases are all deterministic — you meet the requirement, you get the mount. If your goal is collection count rather than one specific drop, this is where your hours pay off.
If you would rather have a vetted human player grind the lockouts while you play something else, that is what our Legacy Raid Mount Farm (from EUR 26) and Famous Mount Farm (from EUR 43) exist for — real players, coaching and progression help, no bots or cheats. Plenty of collectors just use it for the rating and achievement mounts they can't reach solo.
