Patch 12.1.5 lowers the crafting cost of every decor recipe from pre-Midnight professions, and lumber costs come down too. Blizzard's community manager Chimes said some of the cuts are "dramatic" and others "significant". Midnight-era recipes already got the same reduction in patch 12.1. The cheaper costs arrive with 12.1.5 on October 13 in the Americas and on October 14 in Europe.

Which decor recipes count as "older professions"?

Since Blizzard's "Professions Unpacked" update, every crafting profession can make decor for each expansion's version of that profession, using that expansion's reagents. So Classic Blacksmithing, Northrend Tailoring, Dragon Isles Inscription and so on all have decor recipes. Each of these pre-Midnight versions gets the 12.1.5 cost cut. Recipes in the Midnight version of a profession were already reduced in 12.1.

This also means old herbs, ore, leather and cloth that were sitting in your warband bank have a use again. With the lower requirements in 12.1.5, the same stack of old materials makes more pieces of decor.

How much cheaper is each recipe?

Blizzard hasn't published a per-recipe table, so the exact reagent and lumber numbers are unknown until the patch is live. All we have is the official description: some cuts are dramatic and others are significant. The surest way to see the new numbers is to open the recipe in your profession window after maintenance on October 13 or 14 and compare it with what you remember.

Should I craft decor now or wait for 12.1.5?

If you're about to craft older-expansion decor in bulk, wait a few days. Costs can only go down, and lumber gets cheaper too. That matters most if you're furnishing a whole house or trying to level your house toward level 8, where medium-size exteriors unlock. Midnight recipes don't change, so you can craft those now without losing anything.

Will decor prices on the Auction House drop?

Probably over time, because cheaper crafting usually pulls sale prices down once crafters catch up. How fast and by how much will depend on your realm's market, so don't count on a specific number. If you sell old-expansion decor, consider listing your current stock before the patch arrives.

Anything else for housing in 12.1.5?

Yes, a few things. A stairwell blueprint now exports every vertically connected stairwell room. A Twitch Drop also runs from October 13 to November 3: watch 4 hours of eligible WoW streams to get the Cuddly Gold-Colored Grrgle decor. More copies are sold near the Trading Post by Dennia Silvertongue in Silvermoon City, Tuuran in Stormwind and Gabbi in Orgrimmar.

If you'd rather spend your playtime on raids or keys than on furnishing a home, PewPewShop's vetted players offer a Player Housing Setup service covering Midnight housing unlocks and decor, from EUR 19.
