Yes. On October 22, 2026, Blizzard confirmed that WoW: Forever will launch on November 4 with a Roleplay-PvP ruleset, alongside Normal, PvP and Roleplaying (RP-PvE). This reverses an October 15 podcast remark that RP-PvP wasn't planned. Blizzard is also working to let players choose RP-PvP and reserve names there when Early Name Reservation opens on October 27. That part isn't confirmed yet.

How rulesets work, and why it matters for roleplayers
Forever has no realms. You don't pick a server from a list. You pick a ruleset, and each ruleset is its own large shared world. There is no grouping across rulesets, and the two factions stay separate. If you want to move a character to another ruleset later, you need a character transfer. Your collections and Legacy Points still follow you across every ruleset except Hardcore.
Before October 22, roleplayers who wanted world PvP had two choices: play on the PvP ruleset with no RP community around them, or play on RP-PvE and give up open-world fighting. The new ruleset puts both in one place.

On the October 15 episode of the WoW: Forever podcast, the developers said they had no current plans for RP-PvP and that RP-PvE would be the only roleplaying option, though they added "never say never". A week later, Blizzard's blue post said it would add Roleplay-PvP for launch after all. Blizzard didn't give a detailed reason beyond saying it decided to go for it.
How do RP-PvP names work in Forever?
Every Forever name has two parts: a first name plus a second name, such as "Ana Forever". Both parts are required. Names are unique across your whole region, not per ruleset. So a name taken on Normal or PvP is also taken on RP-PvP. That makes the first hours of Early Name Reservation important for roleplayers with a lore-friendly name in mind. Names go to whoever claims them first, and Blizzard doesn't guarantee any name.
Does RP-PvP get the same PvP rules as the PvP ruleset?
Blizzard hasn't published RP-PvP rules separately yet. For the PvP ruleset, it has said there are Horde/Alliance balance systems similar to Season of Discovery, and no low-level protection is planned. Whether those exact rules apply to RP-PvP isn't confirmed. Battlegrounds are shared across rulesets, so you'll queue alongside players from every ruleset either way.
Can I play RP-PvP with friends on other rulesets?
Only in battlegrounds. Dungeons, raids and the open world are separate for each ruleset, so agree on a ruleset with your guild before you reserve names.
If you'd like help after launch, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer play-together PvP sessions and coaching. Forever PvP help starts from EUR 3, and leveling help from EUR 9. That's optional; the ruleset choice itself is free.
