The Drakefire Amulet is your key to Onyxia's Lair in WoW: Forever. Every one of the 40 raiders must carry it, and it only has to sit in your bags. Alliance players start the chain with “Dragonkin Menace” from Helendis Riverhorn in the Burning Steppes. Horde players start with “Blood and Thunder” from Warlord Goretooth in Kargath, Badlands. Both chains end at General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire.

Quick facts

- Chain type: it's different for each faction. Expect elite quests and several runs into high-level dungeons: Blackrock Depths and Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire.
- Fight: Onyxia has three phases and hits hard with fire, so build up fire resistance before you go in.
- Lockout: Blizzard currently plans a weekly reset.
- Bonus: killing Onyxia counts as one of the Raids Legacy Challenges and gives one Legacy point.
Alliance chain: Dragonkin Menace
- “Dragonkin Menace”: Helendis Riverhorn, Burning Steppes.
- Six quests named “The True Masters”.
- Blackrock Depths: “Marshal Windsor”, “A Crumpled Up Note”, “A Shred of Hope”, “Jail Break!”.
- “Stormwind Rendezvous”, then “The Great Masquerade”.
- “The Dragon's Eye”.
- “Drakefire Amulet”: take the Blood of the Black Dragon Champion from General Drakkisath in Upper Blackrock Spire.
Horde chain: Blood and Thunder

- “What the Wind Carries”, then “The Champion of the Horde”. Find Rexxar on the roads of Desolace.
- “The Testament of Rexxar”: Myranda the Hag, Western Plaguelands.
- “Oculus Illusions”: collect Black Dragonspawn Eyes.
- “Emberstrife”: Dustwallow Marsh, using the Amulet of Draconic Subversion.
- Four “The Test of Skulls” quests: Scryer, Somnus, Chronalis and Axtroz.

Can I do the chain before Onyxia opens on December 9?
Blizzard's raid overview doesn't say whether the questline is open before the raid unlocks, so don't plan around a date yet. The dungeons it uses are high-level, so you'll want a level 60 character and a group either way.
Does every raider really need the amulet?
Yes. Blizzard's overview says every member of the raid must carry it. A guild of 40 needs 40 completed chains, so get your alts and late joiners started early.
Do Barrow Deeps or Hyjal Summit need an attunement too?
Blizzard has published an attunement only for Onyxia. Nothing is announced for Barrow Deeps or Hyjal Summit.
Which part of the chain takes longest?
The dungeon steps. Alliance runs Blackrock Depths and then Upper Blackrock Spire. Horde needs both Lower and Upper Blackrock Spire, plus a lot of travel across Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms in between. Finding a group for the elite quests is usually the real bottleneck.
If you'd rather not organize Blackrock Spire runs yourself, PewPewShop's vetted players can play through the attunement with you (Forever attunement help starts from EUR 85). Onyxia raid clears start from EUR 441 and are booked for December 9.
