The fastest renown farm is clearing the weekly capped content first, then filling the rest of the week with repeatables. Do each faction's weekly event quest and weekly assignment, run delves in that faction's zone, then sweep world quests, uncollected treasures and rare first-kills. In The War Within renown is account-wide, so every character you play feeds the same bar.
The mistake most people make is grinding world quests all week and never touching the weekly content, which is where the biggest single chunks sit. Order matters more than hours played.
The weekly order, highest value first
- Weekly zone event quest. Each faction zone has its own recurring event with a quest attached. One completion per week, and it is the largest single renown payout available to you. Never skip it.
- Weekly assignments and campaign steps. Anything flagged as weekly on the map or in your quest log. Cheap, capped, and gone the moment reset hits.
- Delves in the matching zone. Delves award reputation with the faction that owns the zone they sit in. Pick delves in the zone whose renown you actually need, and take the bountiful ones when the map offers them.
- World quests in that zone. Small per quest, but they refresh constantly and they stack up over a week. Filter your map to one zone and clear the board.
- One-time sweeps. Uncollected treasures and first kills on rare mobs pay renown once each. A single organised pass through a zone you have neglected is often worth more than a day of world quests.
Is renown account-wide, or do I have to farm it again on alts?
In The War Within, renown is shared across your Warband. Progress you earn on any character counts toward the same faction level, and rewards you have already unlocked stay unlocked.
That changes the optimal play completely: if you have three characters, you can run each one through the weekly quests and delves and pool the result, instead of picking one main and hoping.
What is the single best thing to do if I only have one hour?
Weekly quest for the faction you need, then delves in that faction's zone until the hour runs out. Nothing else in that window comes close in renown per minute.
If the weekly is already done, spend the hour on a treasure and rare sweep in a zone you have never fully explored. One-time rewards beat repeatables when they are still uncollected.
Can I speed up an old expansion's renown?
Older renown tracks are far quicker than they were at launch. Levelling and questing through the zones naturally, plus any catch-up bonuses the game applies to previous-expansion reputations, will move the bar much faster than it moved for players at the time.
For old renown, the honest answer is to do the campaign content you skipped rather than farm world quests. The quest chains hand out renown in large blocks.
Do reputation buffs actually matter?
They help at the margin, not at the core. A percentage buff applied to world quest trickle is small; applied to a stack of weekly turn-ins and a delve session, it is worth timing. Do the capped content while any bonus is active, not the filler.
