A Blizzard character boost applies almost instantly: your character is at the boosted level within minutes of confirming it, after a short intro scene. A leveling boost from a service is different — expect roughly 1–3 days for a fresh retail character to reach the cap, and several days for a Classic 1–60 run, depending on the queue and the option you pick.

What actually decides the clock
- Which boost you mean. The Blizzard boost is a token: you pick a character, confirm, watch a short scene, and you are done. A leveling service is a human playing the levels, so it is measured in days.
- Starting level and target. 1–90 takes longer than 70–90; a Classic 1–60 run is far longer than any retail bracket because the old world simply has more experience to grind.
- Service option. Self-Play runs are scheduled around your own sessions, so they stretch over more calendar days than a run where the pro sets the pace.
- Extras on the order. Add-ons like professions, a gear target or a faction reputation all push the delivery date out.
- Queue and events. A busy launch week means a short wait before your run starts; a leveling XP event running in-game shortens it.
Why is my Blizzard boost not showing up?
The token is applied at the character select screen, not inside the game. If you just bought it, give the shop a few minutes to process the order, then fully log out and back in. The boost button appears on the left of the character list. A boost that is part of an expansion bundle only unlocks once that expansion is registered on your account.
Once you click through, the character loads into a short intro sequence and comes out with a basic gear set and bags. That part takes a couple of minutes at most.
What does a Blizzard boost skip, and does that matter?
It skips the levels, not the learning. A boosted character has no quest progress, no reputations, no profession skill worth speaking of, and you have never pressed its rotation in a real fight. That is fine for an alt you already understand. For a brand-new class it is the reason boosted players get flamed in their first dungeon.
If you want the shortcut without the awkward first week, pair the boost with an hour or two of coaching on the class. That closes the gap faster than anything else.
How long does leveling take if I do it myself?
On retail, a focused player with heirlooms and a known route can take a fresh character to the cap over a handful of evenings. Most people do it in scattered sessions and it ends up taking a week or two. Classic is a different animal: a 1–60 run is measured in days of played time, and Hardcore adds the stress of playing carefully the whole way.
A pro does it faster for one reason: they have already done the route dozens of times and never stop to read quest text or pick a direction.
Is it faster to buy a leveling boost or a Blizzard boost?
The Blizzard boost wins on raw speed — nothing beats minutes. A leveling run wins when you want the character to actually be played: the professions levelled along the way, the quest chains done, the gear collected, and the option to sit in the party yourself on a Self-Play run so you learn the class as it levels.
Many players use both: a Blizzard boost for the alt they know, a leveling run for the class they want to main and understand.
