A frozen Renown level-up banner or renown bar is a display glitch, not lost progress — type /reload in chat and press Enter. The interface rebuilds in a few seconds without disconnecting you, dropping your group, or touching your reputation. If the frame returns after reloading, log out to character select, then disable addons and clear your Cache folder.
Renown standing lives on the server, not in your interface. Anything you see stuck on screen is a frame that failed to fade out, so nothing you do to the UI can cost you a single point.
Fix ladder — stop at the first step that works
| 1 | Click the stuck banner, then press Esc. Sometimes the alert is simply waiting for a dismissal it never got. |
| 2 | Type /reload in chat. This is the fix in the large majority of cases and takes about five seconds. |
| 3 | Log out to character select and log back in. Clears state that survives a reload. |
| 4 | At character select, open AddOns and disable all. Log in and check. If it's gone, re-enable in halves to find the culprit. |

| 6 | Still stuck: rename WTF, Interface and Cache (don't delete — rename, so you can restore settings). This is a full UI reset. |
| 7 | Run Scan and Repair from the Battle.net launcher, then open a ticket if the frame still appears on a clean UI. |
Does /reload lose anything?
No. It reloads only your interface files. You stay logged in, stay in your group or raid, keep your instance lockout, and keep every point of reputation and renown. The one cost is a few seconds of black screen and any unsaved addon config typed in the last moment.
The renown bar is stuck above my action bars — how do I hide it?
That one is usually not a bug. It's the watched faction bar, which replaces or sits near your XP bar when a faction is being tracked. Open your character panel, go to the Reputation tab, and untick the option that shows the faction as a bar. Right-clicking the bar itself also gives you the tracking options on most versions.
My renown is stuck at the same level and won't go up
Different problem, and this one is by design. Major faction renown is gated by weekly content — world quests, weekly quests and the story campaign — so once you've cleared the week's sources you'll gain almost nothing until reset. Check for an unturned-in campaign quest first; a stalled chapter blocks the renown attached to it.
Which addons cause it most often?
Anything that reskins or moves the objective tracker, alert frames, or the reputation UI. After a patch, an outdated version of one of these can leave alert frames orphaned on screen. Update everything, and if a specific addon is still throwing errors, enable Lua errors so you can see which one is failing.
