Blizzard says Standard Definition (SD) Skyborne player models and SD Skyborne druid forms are in development for early 2027. That puts them after the November 4, 2026 launch of WoW: Forever. Until they arrive, the Skyborne are the only race without SD models. Blizzard is also revising the HD Skyborne druid forms: less softness, more detailed fur and adjusted colour saturation.

Why it matters

WoW: Forever lets each player switch between HD and SD graphics for characters and the world. Players who choose SD get the classic low-poly look on every race except the Skyborne, the new elven race from Zephras Isle. Many players pick SD because it feels like the game they remember. For now, a Skyborne character will still stand out in that view.

Blizzard had promised Skyborne news in a pinned comment on its Skyborne video, with October 5 as the date. The October 7 post was that update, and it gives early 2027 as the target.

Why don't the Skyborne have SD models already?

Every other playable race already had a classic-era model to build from. The Skyborne are new to Forever, so their SD look has to be made from scratch. That includes the unique sky-blue druid forms. In the September 17 live Q&A, Blizzard said HD and SD models share skeletons. So an SD version is new art on an existing rig, not a separate character. Blizzard hasn't explained the delay beyond that.

What is changing on the HD Skyborne druid forms?

Blizzard named three changes: the forms will look less soft, the fur will be more detailed, and the colour saturation will be adjusted. It gave no separate date for this HD revision and showed no before-and-after images. Expect the forms to keep their sky-blue identity and to look sharper and less washed out.

Should I still roll a Skyborne at launch?

If you play in HD, the missing SD models make no difference. If you play in SD, you will see your own Skyborne in a different style from the rest of your group until early 2027. Your gameplay is not affected. Racials, classes and the Zephras Isle start (levels 1–12) work the same in both views. Playing a Skyborne requires the Skyborne Heroic Pack or higher.

Are there other SD changes on the beta?

Yes. SD portraits were added to character creation on the beta in early October. That is a small sign that Blizzard is still filling in the SD side of the client before launch.

If you want help on Zephras Isle or with your leveling after that, PewPewShop's vetted players offer coaching and play-together sessions. These include Skyborne Start: Zephras Isle 1–12 from EUR 15 and the Skyborne Pack: Zephras Isle + Leveling to 60 from EUR 999, both queued for November 4.
