How the camp actually works
- Fly to The Storm Peaks and park somewhere central to the drake's patrol route — Brunnhildar Village, Frostfloe Deep, the Terrace of the Makers and the Nidavelir area are the classic sighting spots.
- Install a rare-spawn alert addon so you get a sound and a pin the moment it enters your detection range. Eyeballing the sky loses mounts.
- Know your competition: the drake shares its spawn pool with Vyragosa, a blue dragon that uses the same route. Every Vyragosa that pops is a roll that did not go your way.
- Fly the patrol circuit on a loop instead of standing still. Coverage beats patience.
- Tag it first and kill it. There is no shared credit and no second chance that day.
Is the Time-Lost Proto-Drake still obtainable?
Yes. It has never been removed, nerfed out of the game or moved to a vendor, and it remains one of the most recognisable mounts in the collection precisely because it is still a pure luck-and-persistence grind.
That also means nothing has made it faster. The same camp that took people weeks a decade ago takes people weeks now.
Did you mean the Infinite Timereaver?
Possibly. "Timelost" and "time" mounts get mixed up constantly. The Infinite Timereaver drops from the final boss of any Timewalking dungeon, so it is only farmable while a Timewalking event is active — but you get several rolls per week instead of one contested spawn.
If you want a time-themed mount and you are not attached to the drake specifically, the Timereaver is the far friendlier target.
How long does the camp really take?
Honestly: unpredictable. Some people get it inside a day because they logged in at the right minute on a quiet realm. Others sit on it for months. There is no progress bar, no bad-luck protection and no pity timer — every hour you spend is independent of the last one.
The practical trick is coverage rather than marathon sessions. Short, frequent checks across odd hours beat one long AFK stint.
Can someone farm it for you?
