A WoW AOTC carry is a coaching-style run where vetted pro players team up with you to kill the current raid tier's final boss on Heroic and earn the Ahead of the Curve achievement. You play your own character while an experienced group handles pull timing, boss mechanics, and callouts. Most carries finish in a single 1-2 hour run and include the AOTC title plus the season's limited mount or reward.
- What you get: Ahead of the Curve achievement, the season's exclusive AOTC reward (usually a mount, only available while the tier is current), and Heroic-level loot from the run.
- Difficulty cleared: The current raid's last boss on Heroic (one step above Normal, below Mythic).
- Time: Typically 1-2 hours for the final-boss kill; full-clear options take longer.
- Gear needed: Often none for a full-boost group; some runs ask for a rough item-level minimum if you're joining as an active DPS/heal.
- Deadline: AOTC is only obtainable until the next raid tier opens, so it's time-limited each season.
Is AOTC hard to get on your own?
It's very achievable with a steady guild, but the final Heroic boss is a real skill and coordination check. Pugs (random groups) often wipe for hours because one or two players miss a mechanic. If you don't raid regularly or your schedule is tight, organizing 20 reliable people before the tier ends is the hard part, not your individual play.
How long does an AOTC carry take?
Most last-boss AOTC runs wrap in about 1-2 hours once the group forms. If you want the full Heroic raid cleared for extra loot and gear, expect a longer session. The bigger clock is the season deadline: once the next tier launches, AOTC becomes permanently unavailable, so earlier in a patch is calmer and cheaper than the final rush.
Does AOTC give a mount or title?
Each raid tier's Ahead of the Curve grants a Feat of Strength achievement and, for most modern tiers, an exclusive mount that only drops while that raid is current content. You also earn bragging rights and a clear sign to guilds and Mythic groups that you've cleared endgame Heroic. After the tier ends, the mount can't be earned anymore.
If you'd rather have a vetted pro handle the coordination, PewPewShop offers AOTC coaching and rent-a-pro runs led by long-tenured human raiders (no bots, no cheats, clean track record). You play your character, they carry the strategy — a solid option when you want the achievement and reward before the season closes without grinding failed pugs.
