In Mists of Pandaria the weekly Conquest cap starts at 1,800 points and scales with your personal rating, reaching 2,200 for Arena players sitting at 2,400 or higher (Rated Battlegrounds have a higher ceiling). From patch 5.2 onward a catch-up rule lifts the cap for anyone who is behind the season's running total, so a late starter can still close the gear gap.

MoP Conquest cap: the numbers that matter

  • Base weekly cap: 1,800 Conquest at 1,500 rating or below.
  • Arena scaling: the cap climbs with your highest personal rating and stops growing at 2,400 rating (2,200 Conquest per week).
  • Rated Battlegrounds: a separate, higher cap in early MoP; from 5.2 the two sources share one cap, and your RBG rating counts toward it.
  • Per-win awards: about 180 Conquest for an Arena win and 400 for a Rated Battleground win; your first random battleground win of the day adds 100 on top.
  • Catch-up (5.2+): if your season total is below what a capped player would have, your weekly cap is raised until you catch up.
  • Honor unlock (5.3+): once you have earned 27,000 Conquest in the season, you can buy the season's Conquest gear with Honor instead.
  • Reset: the cap refills with the weekly reset — Tuesday on US realms, Wednesday on EU.

Where do I see my current cap?

Open your character panel and go to the Currency tab. Conquest Points shows how much you have earned this week against the cap and your running season total. That tooltip is the only number you should trust, because your rating (and the catch-up rule) changes the ceiling from week to week.

If you are playing MoP Classic rather than the original 2012–2014 expansion, treat the tooltip as authoritative too — Classic seasons follow the same 5.4-era system, and any tuning Blizzard applies shows up there first.

How long does it take to cap Conquest in MoP?

At 180 per win, an Arena team needs ten wins to clear the 1,800 base cap — a couple of evenings for most players. Rated Battlegrounds are faster per game at 400 a win: five wins and you are done. Mixing the daily random battleground win in for its 100 Conquest shaves one Arena win off the total.

The catch-up rule matters most for alts and returning players: a character that starts six weeks late can be sitting on a cap of several thousand for its first week, which is why the Currency tab can show a much bigger number than 1,800.

Does rating still raise the cap in MoP?

Yes. The scaling from Cataclysm survived into Pandaria, just with different endpoints: 1,800 at the bottom, 2,200 at 2,400+ for Arena. It uses your highest personal rating in the current week across the rated brackets you play, so one strong 3v3 push can raise the cap for your Rated Battleground games as well once the pools are merged in 5.2.

Is capping every week worth it?

In MoP, more than in most expansions. Conquest gear is a full tier above Honor gear, weapon purchases are gated behind season Conquest earned, and every week you skip is 1,800+ points you only partially recover through catch-up. Players who cap consistently from week one have their weapon and full set weeks before those who dip in and out.
