Classic Plus (Classic+) is a fan term, not a Blizzard product — it describes a version of WoW Classic that keeps getting brand-new content: fresh dungeons, raids, class reworks, maybe new zones, instead of freezing after Naxxramas or rolling into the next expansion. Blizzard has never shipped a game literally called Classic+; Season of Discovery is the closest official experiment so far.
Classic+ in five quick facts
- Origin: player forums and Reddit, not a marketing page. It grew loud once Classic finished its content cycle and the only road forward was The Burning Crusade.
- Core demand: keep the vanilla ruleset and 1.12-era feel, then add to it rather than replace it.
- What it is not: a release, a beta, a subscription tier or a store product. There is nothing to pre-order.
- Closest official thing: Season of Discovery, which added engraved runes, new abilities and reworked low-level dungeons into raids.
- Classic Era realms stay frozen on purpose. That is their whole appeal to the people who play them.
What people ask for vs. what exists
| The Classic+ wish | Where it stands |
| Brand-new level 60 raids | Only via seasonal experiments, never on permanent Era realms |
| A new zone or continent | Never officially delivered |
| Balance passes so hybrid specs are viable | Season of Discovery did this in a limited, seasonal way through runes |
| Permanent servers, not a season | Seasons wind down and characters move to Classic Era realms |
Is WoW Classic Plus officially confirmed?
No product with that name has been announced or sold. Blizzard developers have publicly acknowledged the community appetite for new vanilla-era content, and the seasonal servers read like tests of that appetite, but acknowledgement is not a release.
Because this is a live conversation that moves with every announcement, check the official WoW site or a recent developer post before you believe any date you see quoted. Fan-made roadmaps circulate constantly and almost none of them come from Blizzard.
Is Season of Discovery the same thing as Classic+?
It is the closest official answer so far, not the same thing. SoD kept vanilla's map and pacing but bolted on runes that gave classes abilities they never had, and turned old dungeons into raid content at capped levels.
The gap is permanence. Classic+ as players describe it means an ongoing world that keeps growing; a season is a defined run with an ending.
Will Classic Era realms ever get new content?
Treat that as unlikely. Classic Era exists precisely so the 1.12 experience stays untouched, and a large part of that population would consider new content a downgrade. Every experiment Blizzard has run has landed on separate realms instead.
What should I play if I want that Classic+ feeling now?
Pick by what you actually miss. If it is danger and consequence, Hardcore realms deliver that better than any new raid would. If it is a fresh economy and a full server levelling together, Anniversary or fresh realms are the answer. If it is new mechanics on old bones, watch for the next seasonal server.
Whichever you land on, the wall is the same one it always was: sixty levels, gold for consumables, and a raid roster that shows up on time.
