How to apply your boost, step by step
- Log into WoW and stop at the character selection screen — don't enter the world yet.
- Click the Apply Boost button (bottom-center of the screen, or the glowing token shown on an empty character slot).
- Choose Boost an existing character or Create new character.
- Pick the class and specialization you want to land in.
- Confirm. The character is instantly raised to the boost level, gets a set of gear, a bag, and enough gold to train up.

Why is my Apply Boost button greyed out or locked?
The most common reason is that you don't actually own an unused boost — the button only unlocks once one is on your account. Other blockers: the character you're trying to boost is already at or above the boost's level, you're on a free trial/starter account, or the class you chose has its own unlock requirement.
Check your Shop or the pop-up on the character screen. If it says "0 boosts," you'll need to buy an expansion or a Shop boost first.
What level does a WoW boost take you to?
A standard boost sets your character to one expansion behind the current cap — level 70 while The War Within is live. It does not take you to the absolute max level, so you'll still level the final stretch yourself. Special class-specific unlocks (like Death Knights or Demon Hunters) start at their own designated levels instead.
Can I boost a character I already leveled?
Yes, as long as that character is below the boost's target level. Pick "Boost an existing character" and select it. If the character is already at or above the boost level, it won't be eligible — the boost can only push you up, never down, and it won't refund partial progress.
One caution: boosting skips the leveling content, so you may want a class you already understand or a plan to learn the rotation.
