Delves are the fastest solo gearing path in WoW. Every Bountiful Delve pays a guaranteed piece of gear when you spend a Restored Coffer Key on the coffer at the end, tier 8 runs give the strongest end-of-delve reward, and the Delves you finish each week fill their own Great Vault row for a higher-track pick. No group, no schedule, no lockout.

Delve gearing at a glance

  • Only Bountiful Delves drop guaranteed gear. A normal Delve gives you the run; the Bountiful coffer at the end gives you the item — and it only opens with a Restored Coffer Key.
  • Tier 8 is the breakpoint most players farm. It is where the end-of-delve reward peaks and where your Great Vault Delve pick comes in at its highest track.
  • The Great Vault Delve row fills at 2, 4 and 8 Delves completed in a week. Run them at tier 8 or above so the options you get on reset day are worth taking.
  • Keys are the bottleneck, not the Delves. You can physically clear far more Delves in a week than you have Coffer Keys to open. Farm keys first, then spend them.
  • Bountiful Delves rotate. Check the map each day — the highlighted ones are the only ones worth a key.
  • Brann matters more than your ilvl at higher tiers. Level him, and pick the role (healer, damage, tank) that covers your own weak spot.
  • Tier 11 and Zekvir are the challenge end of the ladder — prestige, achievements and cosmetics rather than a straight item level jump.

The weekly Delve routine

  1. Bank Restored Coffer Keys from world content and weekly sources before you start spending.
  2. Open the map, find the Bountiful Delves flagged for that day.
  3. Set the tier — you unlock higher tiers by clearing lower ones, so clear up the ladder once and it stays unlocked per character.
  4. Run it with Brann at the highest level you have him, in a supporting role.
  5. Spend a key on the coffer at the end. Skip this and the run gave you nothing but progress.
  6. Get to 8 Delves for the week to open all three Great Vault picks.
  7. Spend Valorstones and the season's crests upgrading the best drop, not every drop.

What tier of Delve should I run for gear?

Tier 8, once you can clear it comfortably. Below that the end-of-delve reward and your vault track both drop off, so a tier 5 clear costs the same key for a weaker item. Above tier 8 the loot does not keep scaling the same way — you run tier 9 through 11 for the challenge, the achievements and the bragging rights.

If tier 8 is killing you, run a couple of tiers lower for a week, upgrade what you get, and come back. Gear catches up fast.

How do I get more Restored Coffer Keys?

Keys come from ordinary outdoor play — weekly quests, events, world content and the key-fragment currency that converts into full keys. There is a soft weekly ceiling, which is exactly why keys, not clear speed, decide how much gear you pull out of Delves.

Practical rule: never open a Bountiful coffer on a slot you have already over-geared. Save the key for a weak slot next reset.

Are Delves better than dungeons for gearing?

For a solo player, early in a season, yes — Delves hand you guaranteed gear on your own schedule with zero group friction. Dungeons and raids overtake them for top-end item level and for the highest upgrade crests. Most people use Delves to build a base fast, then move into group content already geared enough to be invited.

Does Delve gear work for Mythic+ and raiding?

It does. Delve loot uses the same tracks and the same upgrade currencies as everything else, so a Delve-geared character walks into early keys and normal raid perfectly functional. It is a starting engine, not a ceiling.
