Blizzard's October 15 beta development notes redesigned Arcane Blast in WoW: Forever. It is now a 1.5-second cast, and each cast grants 15% of your Intellect as Spell Damage, stacking 4 times for 15 seconds. The spell's own damage and coefficients drop by 40%. Arcane Wrath is a new 16-point Arcane talent: a 3.5-second cast with base damage similar to Fireball, plus damage as if you had extra Spell Power equal to 5% of your maximum Mana, on a 6-second cooldown.

Blizzard changed what the spell does. Arcane Blast used to be a big hit on its own. Now it is mostly a ramp-up tool: a few casts build a large Spell Damage bonus that feeds into the spells you cast after it. Its own hits are weaker, but the stacks make the rest of your rotation hit harder while they last.

What does the Arcane Wrath talent do?
The October 15 notes add Arcane Wrath as a new 16-point Arcane talent. That is the new milestone tier Forever puts between the classic 11- and 21-point milestones. Blizzard's notes describe it: base damage similar to Fireball with a 3.5-second cast, plus damage as if you had extra Spell Power equal to 5% of your maximum Mana, on a 6-second cooldown. A big Mana pool makes it hit harder.
What else changed for Arcane Mages in the same build?
The same October 15 notes moved Missile Barrage to row 1 as a 2-point talent and expanded Critical Mass to 5 points (10%). An earlier beta change made Arcane Missiles check line of sight only once, when the channel starts. Arcane is clearly being rebuilt around its own spells rather than borrowing Fire and Frost talents.
Mages also got Frost Blast at level 24. It has a 1.5-second cast, deals damage, applies a 40% slow and uses all Frostbolt talents. It replaces the old trick of casting a Rank 1 Frostbolt just for the slow. On the beta, spells cast at ranks far below your level now get less benefit from Spell Damage. So Arcane Blast's Spell Damage buff matters more if you keep your ranks current.

No. This is beta tuning. The beta runs until October 21. The open Stress Test is on October 19, and WoW: Forever launches on November 4, 2026 at 3 p.m. Pacific. Blizzard has adjusted class numbers week by week through the beta, so treat the 15%, 4 stacks and the 40% cut as current values, not final ones.
Which races can play an Arcane Mage in Forever?
Alongside the Classic Mage races, Forever adds the Orc Mage as one of its six new race and class combos. Alliance Skyborne (High Order) can also be Mages. On the beta, Gnome Eureka! is now an 8-second buff with the same damage and cost effects, so Gnome remains a caster pick worth testing.
If you'd rather focus on learning the new Arcane rotation than grinding levels, PewPewShop's vetted players can help with progression. Forever Beta Leveling 1–30 starts from EUR 14, and Forever Leveling 1–30 for launch starts from EUR 42.
