Blizzard's October 1 beta patch notes for WoW: Forever raised the Honor cost of PvP gear and upgrade tokens by about 50% and lifted the Honor cap from 15,000 to 25,000. This is a beta change, so the numbers can still move before the November 4 launch. For now, plan on every PvP item costing about half as much Honor again.

  • A piece that cost 1,000 Honor before the change now costs about 1,500. That example is just the arithmetic. Blizzard hasn't published a final price list.
  • Upgrade tokens rose by the same amount, so the whole upgrade path costs more, not only the base items.
  • The higher cap lets you bank more Honor before you hit the ceiling. You need that now that each purchase takes a bigger chunk.

What players ask next

Does this mean PvP gear takes 50% longer to get?

Only if Honor per match stays the same, and that isn't settled. Blizzard has said Honor gains in Forever are rebalanced away from Alterac Valley camping, and the exact Honor per battleground hasn't been published. So the honest answer is: the price went up by about half, but the time it takes depends on Honor rates that are still being tuned on the beta.

Why does the 25,000 cap matter?

Under a 15,000 cap you couldn't hold enough Honor for several expensive items at once. Anything you earned past the cap was wasted. With 25,000 you can grind ahead, sit at the cap for less time, and buy a weapon or token as soon as it unlocks instead of spending piece by piece.

Is there rated PvP or a rank grind in Forever?

Forever has no Rated PvP. It has a 14-rank Honor track that resets every season. Datamined rank rewards, which may still change, run from a tabard at rank 1 through elite gear, Black War mounts at rank 11 and a Weapon Arsenal at rank 14. Battlemasters and PvP gear vendors are in Dalaran's Underbelly on the beta. The new 15v15 Darkspear Islands battleground joins the original battlegrounds.

Can anything offset the higher costs?

At the BlizzCon demo, Wowhead saw a Legacy perk called For Great Honor that gives +2% Honor per rank. Legacy perks are account-wide and non-combat, and the final perk list isn't confirmed. Beyond that, the plan is simple: start banking Honor early, since the cap is now high enough to hold it.

Will these numbers stay at launch?

Nobody can promise that. The beta runs until October 21 and Blizzard keeps retuning it. In the same build it cut extra dungeon-quest XP by 50%, and it has confirmed other PvP oddities (lower crit damage) as bugs. Blizzard's roadmap also lists a PvP season refresh for Spring 2027. Check the patch notes again before you plan a full gear grind.
