In WoW: Forever, Shamans get a totem bar and three new spells that each drop a customizable set of totems in one cast. Totemic Projection moves totems that are already down. Restoration gets Riptide, which strengthens Chain Heal. Elemental gets Lava Burst, which hits harder on targets with Flame Shock. Dwarves and Horde Skyborne can now play Shaman too.

Confirmed Shaman changes at a glance

These come from Blizzard's class video, which Wowhead summarized on September 30, 2026, and from Blizzard's beta development notes of September 24. The video covered highlights only, not full talent trees.

Beta tuning from the September 24 notes

  • Lightning Bolt ranks 3 and 4 were buffed.
  • Lava Burst ranks 1 and 2 now hit about 10% harder than the Lightning Bolt rank of the same level.
  • Flametongue Totem no longer stacks with Flametongue Weapon or Windfury Totem.
  • Tranquil Air, Windfury and Grace of Air totems no longer stack with each other.
  • Elemental Fury and Elemental Alacrity swapped rows (3 and 6).
  • Rage of the Far Seer no longer gives casting speed.

This is beta tuning and could change again before the November 4 launch.

Which races can be Shaman in WoW: Forever?

Dwarves are one of Forever's six new race/class combinations. Horde Skyborne (the Windshapers) can also be Shamans, which Blizzard confirmed in its September 22 article. Alliance Skyborne (the High Order) can't. They get Mage instead.

What changed for Enhancement Shaman?

Nothing specific yet. Blizzard's video only named changes for Restoration and Elemental. Nobody knows yet whether Enhancement gets the totem bar or Totemic Projection, or which new talents it gets. Blizzard says more class deep dives will come during the beta.

How does the totem bar change totem management?

In original Classic, you set down each totem by hand, one global cooldown at a time. In Forever, one cast drops a whole preset group of totems. When the fight moves, Totemic Projection moves the whole setup with you. On Elemental, totems also last 5 minutes, so you recast them much less often.

Do Shaman spell ranks update on the action bar?

On the beta, not always. You buy new ranks from class trainers. For mana users like Shamans, a new rank may not replace the old one on your action bars, so check your bars after each visit to the trainer. Warriors and Rogues update automatically.

Other Forever systems every Shaman should know

Talents open at level 10 and have a new 16-point milestone alongside 11, 21 and 31. Dual specialization unlocks at level 40, so a Resto/Elemental pair is realistic. Horde Skyborne can earn the Windcarved Effigy totem from the quest Meddlesome Mages. It cuts the mana cost of early Lightning Bolt ranks by 16.67–33%.

If you'd rather have a vetted player help you through the early levels, PewPewShop's Forever Beta Leveling 1–20 starts from EUR 13. Launch-day leveling help can be booked now for November 4. All of it is done by human players, with no bots.
