Blizzard confirmed that WoW: Forever gives Azshara more quests and the Wetlands new art, per Wowhead's recaps of the September 17 Q&A and press interviews. Azshara, famously empty in the original game, gets extra questing; the Wetlands gets a visual refresh plus reworked fog. Exact quest counts and the new look are not published yet — Forever launches November 4, 2026.
Old-zone changes Blizzard has confirmed so far
- Azshara — more quests. No number was given; it is separate from the 1,000+ new quests headline only in the sense that Blizzard did not break the total down by zone.
- Wetlands — new art and reworked fog, plus a new dungeon: an Excavation site above Whelgar's Excavation, listed among the low-level dungeons.
- Dustwallow Marsh — reworked fog.
- Duskwood — spookier, with real-time torch light.
- Badlands — lighting that follows the sun's position.
- Ashenvale — flowing water.
- Dire Maul, Maraudon, Razorfen Downs — expanded Shen'dralar content around them.
All of this is from Wowhead's written coverage of Blizzard's interviews and Q&A, September 17, 2026, so treat it as confirmed direction, not a patch-notes list. Blizzard has not said whether Azshara's level range moves, whether the zone gets a hub or reputation, or what the new Wetlands art looks like in detail. Beta week 1 opens zones only up to level 20, so neither Azshara nor a full Wetlands pass is testable yet.

Confirmed only as "more quests in Azshara". In original WoW the zone was huge but nearly questless, which is why it is one of the most-requested fixes in any "Classic+" conversation. Blizzard has not published how many quests, which levels they target, or whether Azshara gains a town. Anything beyond "more quests" is speculation until the beta reaches it or Blizzard posts details.
Worth knowing for context: the big new leveling zone at launch is the Riverglades (Eastern Kingdoms, roughly 30–45, 150+ quests, new reputations, a neutral goblin port). Azshara is an upgrade to an existing zone, not the new one.
What exactly changes in the Wetlands?
Two things are confirmed: new art and reworked fog. Since Forever ships toggleable HD and SD graphics for both characters and the world, the new Wetlands art fits a wider push to make old zones look better without forcing the change on anyone. The third change is content: the new Excavation site dungeon above Whelgar's Excavation, which Wowhead's demo screenshots placed in the "Novice" Spelunker tier next to Deadmines and Shadowfang Keep — a hint at a low-level range, not an official one.
Which other Classic zones get touched?
Beyond the list above: three brand-new zones (Zephras Isle for the Skyborne 1–12 start, the Riverglades, and Mount Hyjal as an endgame zone hosting the Hyjal Summit raid and a Barrow Deeps entrance), a hidden Shen'dralas region between Mulgore and Desolace, nine new dungeons and two new raids. There is no flying and no level scaling, so every zone keeps a fixed level band. Forever is realmless — you pick a ruleset (Normal, PvP, Roleplaying, later Hardcore), not a server.
When can I see the new Azshara and Wetlands myself?
The beta runs September 17 – October 21, 2026, capped at level 20 at first and 30 later, so Azshara (a high-level zone originally) is out of reach in beta. Launch is November 4, 2026, 3 p.m. Pacific, included with a normal subscription. Expect Blizzard or Wowhead to show the Wetlands art once the beta opens more zones.
