In Battleground Blitz you win by keeping the objective carrier alive, not by topping the healing meter. Blitz is 8v8 solo-queue rated PvP on short objective maps with only a couple of healers per side. Stay glued to the flag or cart carrier, spend cooldowns on dispels and freedom effects, and never chase kills away from the point.
Blitz healer quick rules
- Queue solo from Group Finder → Rated PvP at max level. Role queue means you are one of a very small number of healers, so a single death swings the round.
- Pick your PvP talents for the role, not the numbers. Your trinket answer to crowd control, your dispel-protection tool and your movement talent matter more than any throughput talent.
- Positioning beats healing throughput. Heal from behind a pillar, a hut wall or a hill lip. If two DPS can free-cast on you, you have already lost the trade.
- Dispel and freedom on cooldown for the carrier — roots, slows and DoTs on a flag runner cost more than raw health.
- Never leave the objective to chase a kill. Blitz rounds are short; the team that holds the point while the enemy fights in the graveyard wins.
- Call the swap. Type a two-word target call. Healers see the whole field and most Blitz lobbies have no other shot-caller.
What your job is on each map type
| Map type | Your job as healer |
| Flag maps (Warsong Gulch, Twin Peaks) | Escort the carrier, pre-dispel roots, save your movement cooldown for the tunnel or ramp choke. |
| Cart and relic maps (Deepwind Gorge, Silvershard Mines, Deephaul Ravine) | Sit on the contested cart, not the safe one. Use crates and rock walls to break line of sight. |
| Node maps (The Battle for Gilneas) | Defend with the second-largest group. Survive long enough for reinforcements — a stalled cap is a win. |
| Orb map (Temple of Kotmogu) | Heal orb holders from the outer ring. Do not carry an orb yourself unless nobody else can. |
Which healer spec is best in Battleground Blitz?
Mobility and utility decide it. Restoration Druid and Preservation Evoker are the easiest to keep alive because they heal while moving and can reposition instantly. Holy Paladin is the strongest pure node defender thanks to freedom and immunity tools. Restoration Shaman and Mistweaver Monk trade some safety for purges, totems and hard peels.
Play the spec you actually know. A well-played "off-meta" healer who never gets caught out of position climbs faster than a fresh reroll into whatever is trending.
How do I stop dying as a healer in Blitz?
Most healer deaths come from being caught in the open with your escape on cooldown. Treat your defensive kit as a rotation: personal defensive first, then peel, then trinket — not trinket first. Save your hard cast time for moments when a teammate has the enemy's attention.
Also watch the enemy healer's positioning. If both teams' healers are safe, the game is decided by objectives, and you should be moving toward the next one before your team does.
How does Blitz rating work and what should I aim for?
Blitz keeps its own rating track, separate from Solo Shuffle and traditional Rated Battlegrounds, and rewards personal rating rather than a team score. Healers usually gain rating faster than DPS early on because the queue is short-handed for them. A realistic first goal is a comfortable Rival-range rating; beyond that, wins come from map knowledge and calling, not from bigger heals.
Track your losses, not your wins. If you keep losing the same map, the fix is a positioning habit, not a talent swap.
Does healing in Blitz translate to Rated Battlegrounds?
Partly. The survival and peeling habits carry over directly, but 10v10 Rated Battlegrounds add coordinated group healing, assigned targets and voice calls. Most players who are steady in Blitz adapt within a few RBG nights.
