Goldtooth is a kobold boss you kill for a low-level Alliance quest in Loch Modan — he sits deep inside the Silver Stream Mine in the north of the zone. Pick the quest up from the miner camped outside the mine entrance, fight through the kobold packs in the tunnels, kill Goldtooth, then hand in for the reward.

How to do it, step by step
- Fly or run to Thelsamar in Loch Modan and head north along the road.
- Talk to the miner sitting outside the Silver Stream Mine entrance and take the quest.
- Enter the mine and clear inward. The kobolds pull in twos and threes near the torches — pull them back into cleared tunnel rather than fighting in the open chambers.
- Follow the main tunnel to the back. Goldtooth is a named kobold with a small guard presence around him.
- Kill him, run back out, and turn the quest in outside.
Where exactly is the Silver Stream Mine?
Northern Loch Modan, up the slope past Thelsamar. If you are standing in Thelsamar with the loch on your right, follow the road north and watch the west side for a mine entrance cut into the rock.
If you came in from Dun Morogh through the tunnel, the mine is well north of the Stonewrought Dam road — you are going up and away from the water, not around it.
Can you solo Goldtooth?
Yes, comfortably, if you are within a level or two of the quest's own level and you pull carefully. The danger is never Goldtooth himself; it is adding two extra kobolds while you fight him in a tight tunnel.
Clear the room before you engage, use whatever crowd control or pet you have, and keep your back to a wall you already cleared. Under-leveled characters should bring a friend rather than trying to out-gear it.
Is the Goldtooth quest still available on modern retail?
Treat that as client-dependent. Cataclysm overhauled Loch Modan, and level scaling plus the leveling revamps since then changed which starter-zone quests appear and where they route you. Classic-era clients are where most people meet Goldtooth.
