A full World of Warcraft raid clear usually runs 45 minutes to 3 hours. A practiced group clears Normal in about an hour to 90 minutes, Heroic in 2–3 hours, and each LFR wing in 20–40 minutes. Mythic is the outlier: guilds spend whole 3–4 hour nights, sometimes weeks, on one boss before it finally falls.

What actually eats the time
- Trash and travel — often 30–40% of a farm clear. Skips shave real minutes.
- Wipes and recovery — a wipe costs the pull plus 2–4 minutes of run-back, rebuff and drinking.
- Filling the group — pugging 20 people for Heroic frequently takes longer than the raid itself.
- Loot and trading — a few minutes per boss in a group that actually distributes drops.
- Tactic explanations — 2–5 minutes per new boss for a group that hasn't seen it.
How long is one raid night?
Most guilds schedule 3 to 3.5 hours, two or three nights a week. That's the practical ceiling before focus drops off — and it's why Heroic usually gets split over two nights early in a tier, then compresses into a single night once the fights are known.
Why does the first week take so much longer?
Everyone is undergeared, nobody has the fight memorised, and each boss needs explaining before the first pull. The same raid you clear in 75 minutes in month three can take 3 hours in week one. Gear from earlier bosses compounds too — later pulls get faster as the group's item level climbs.
Is LFR faster than a Normal pug?
Per wing, yes — LFR runs 20–40 minutes and drops the lowest-item-level loot. But you queue for it, and a full LFR tier across all wings adds up to more total time than one competent Normal clear. If your goal is gear per hour, Normal wins.
Can you clear a raid solo?
Old-expansion raids, yes. A max-level character solos most content from two or more expansions back in 15–30 minutes, which is exactly how mount farmers run their weekly legacy routes. Current-tier raids can't be soloed at any difficulty.
