You reach Winterspring by walking through Timbermaw Hold, the furbolg tunnel in the far northeast corner of Felwood. Enter the tunnel, keep to the eastern passage, and you come out on the Winterspring side near Frostsaber Rock, then follow the road southeast to Everlook. No key, quest or level requirement — but the furbolgs attack until you reach Neutral with them.
Step-by-step route to Winterspring
- Get to Felwood. Both factions enter from the north road out of Ashenvale. Alliance usually come via Astranaar; Horde via Splintertree Post. Mages can shorten this with a portal to Darnassus (Alliance) or Orgrimmar (Horde) and then ride north.
- Ride to the top of Felwood. Follow the main road north past Bloodvenom Post (Horde camp) and Talonbranch Glade (Alliance camp). The road ends at the Timbermaw Hold entrance in the northeast corner of the zone.
- Go through Timbermaw Hold. Inside, the tunnel forks. The northern branch leads to Moonglade; the eastern branch leads to Winterspring. Take the eastern one and keep moving.
- Exit into Winterspring. You come out in the northwest of the zone. Ride the road southeast, and Everlook (the neutral goblin town with the flight master, inn and vendors) is roughly in the middle of the map.
- Grab the flight path. Talk to the flight master in Everlook so you never need to walk the tunnel again.
Quick facts
| Zone level range | 55–60 (mobs near the tunnel exit are the lowest) |
| Only ground entrance | Timbermaw Hold tunnel from Felwood (or from Moonglade) |
| Main hub | Everlook — neutral goblin town, both factions welcome |
| Furbolg guards | Hostile at Unfriendly rep; stop attacking once you are Neutral |
| Flight connections | Felwood camps (Talonbranch Glade / Bloodvenom Post) and Nighthaven in Moonglade |
Can I run through Timbermaw Hold without reputation?
Yes. Everyone starts at Unfriendly with Timbermaw Hold, so the guards will hit you, but they are ordinary non-elite mobs in the mid-50s and do not follow far. Most players just mount up and sprint through; a level 40-something with a mount usually makes it with a sliver of health. If you die, the graveyard is close enough to try again.
To make the tunnel permanently safe, kill Deadwood furbolgs at the camps in Felwood (Deadwood Village in the south, Felpaw Village in the north) until you tick over to Neutral. That takes maybe half an hour and also unlocks the Timbermaw quests later on.
Is there a faster way for druids or mages?
Druids have the best shortcut in the game: cast Teleport: Moonglade, then leave Nighthaven through the Timbermaw tunnel on the east side of Moonglade and you pop straight out into Winterspring. It skips Felwood entirely.
Mages have no direct portal, but a Darnassus or Orgrimmar portal followed by a flight to the nearest Felwood camp trims most of the ride. Once anyone has the Everlook flight path, a flight from Moonglade or Felwood is the normal way in.
Why go to Winterspring at all?
It is one of the main endgame questing zones, with several quest chains that feed into Dire Maul, Blackrock content and profession recipes. Alliance players farm Wintersaber Trainers reputation there for the Frostsaber mount, and both factions fish, mine Thorium and pick Icecap and Mountain Silversage along the ridges. Everlook is also a handy neutral bank and repair stop when you are working the northern half of Kalimdor.
What level should I be before going?
The zone is tuned for 55–60, so quests start making sense around 53–55. Going earlier just to unlock the flight path is common and perfectly doable; you only need to survive the tunnel and one road ride to Everlook.
