Vulpera unlock in one line: play a Horde character through the Vol'dun storyline until you earn the Secrets in the Sands achievement, then complete the Vulpera recruitment quests at the Orgrimmar Embassy. The Exalted Voldunai reputation that gated this race at launch was removed in Dragonflight patch 10.1.5, so the whole thing now comes down to one BfA zone story and a short quest chain in the capital.
Vulpera unlock checklist
- Be Horde. Vulpera are a Horde allied race; an Alliance-only account cannot start the recruitment quests.
- Get to Vol'dun. Take the Zandalar boat from Orgrimmar (or the portal room), pick Vol'dun from the Zuldazar war table, and work the zone's chapters.
- Earn Secrets in the Sands. This is the zone meta-achievement — it completes automatically once you finish every story chapter in Vol'dun. Side quests are optional.
- Visit the Orgrimmar Embassy. It sits in the Valley of Strength, near the main gate. The Vulpera recruitment quest is offered there once the achievement is on your character.
- Finish the recruitment chain. It is a handful of quests; on completion the Allied Races: Vulpera achievement unlocks the race at character creation and hands you the Caravan Hyena mount.

Where do you unlock Vulpera exactly?
Two places matter. The story part happens in Vol'dun, the desert zone in the north-west of Zandalar. The actual unlock happens at the Orgrimmar Embassy — a small building in the Valley of Strength just inside the front gate, the same spot where every other Horde allied race is recruited. If the quest is not showing there, the missing piece is almost always the Secrets in the Sands achievement.
How long does unlocking Vulpera take?
With no reputation to farm, the entire unlock is a single evening for most players: the Vol'dun story chapters take roughly two to three hours at a relaxed pace on a max-level character, and the embassy questline in Orgrimmar is well under an hour after that. Chromie Time or a scaled character makes the zone easy; nothing in the chain has a group requirement.
Do I still need Exalted with the Voldunai?
No. When Vulpera arrived in patch 8.3 the unlock demanded Exalted with the Voldunai on top of the story achievement, which is why older guides talk about weeks of world quests. Dragonflight patch 10.1.5 stripped reputation from every allied race unlock. If you happen to already be Exalted, it changes nothing — only the achievement and the embassy quests are checked.
What do Vulpera get once unlocked?
The race's signature perks are Bag of Tricks (a throwable damage or heal on a short cooldown), Make Camp and Return to Camp (a second hearthstone you can plant anywhere), extra backpack space and reduced fire damage taken. Levelling a fresh Vulpera from 10 to 50 without a boost or race change also earns the Vulpera Heritage Armor set, which stays cosmetically available on that character afterwards.
