Yes — keep Luffa if you PvP at all. It's an on-use item that strips Bleed effects like Rend, Rupture, Garrote and Rip, and no class in Classic has a spell that dispels bleeds. That makes one bag slot a cheap price for surviving a Warrior or Rogue opener. Pure PvE players lose little by selling it to a PvPer instead.

Quick facts before you clear that bag slot

  • What it does: on use, it clears Bleed effects — Rend, Deep Wounds, Rupture, Garrote, Rip, Rake, Pounce and the bleeds some mobs and weapon procs apply.
  • What it does not do: nothing against Poison, Disease, Curse or Magic. It is not a stun break and it is not a substitute for your PvP trinket.
  • Why it is unique: bleeds in Classic are physical damage over time. Cleanse, Dispel Magic, Abolish Poison and Remove Curse all ignore them. Item effects and full immunities are the only outs.
  • Cost of keeping it: exactly one bag slot. That is the whole argument against it.
  • Cost of losing it: replacing it means farming or buying it again, and PvP players bid it up.

The honest verdict by playstyle

  1. PvP realm, battlegrounds, duels, world PvP: keep it. Rogues and Warriors are the two classes you meet most, and both open with a bleed. Clearing one mid-fight has decided plenty of 1v1s.
  2. Cloth wearers and healers: keep it. A ticking bleed is what stops your drink, your bandage and half your escape plans.
  3. Pure PvE, PvE realm, bags always full: selling it is defensible. Just put it on the Auction House rather than the vendor.
  4. Hardcore: keep it. Anything that removes damage still ticking on you while you run is worth a slot when a death is permanent.

Can any class dispel bleeds in WoW Classic?

No. Bleeds are physical effects, so the standard dispel toolkit does nothing to them. The only reliable ways out are full immunities such as Ice Block or Divine Shield, waiting out the duration, or an item effect like Luffa.

That is the entire reason a low-level item stays relevant deep into the endgame. It fills a gap the class design leaves open on purpose.

Is Luffa worth a bag slot in raids and dungeons?

Far less. Boss and trash bleeds exist, but healers usually just heal through them and the tempo of a raid rarely gives you a good window to use it. If your character never sets foot in a battleground, this is the case where letting it go is genuinely fine.

On a PvP realm, though, "pure PvE" tends to last right up until someone jumps you at a flight point.

Should I sell Luffa instead of keeping it?

If you sell, use the Auction House. PvP-minded players actively shop for bleed removal and will pay well above what a vendor gives you. Check what your server's listings look like before you decide — prices swing a lot between realms and between Era, Hardcore and Anniversary-style servers.

One middle path: park it in the bank instead of your bags. Zero slot cost while you level, and it is there the day you start doing battlegrounds.

Does it help against Hunters and Feral Druids specifically?

Against Feral Druids, yes — Rip and Rake are bleeds and they hit hard when the cat has combo points banked. Hunters lean on stings and traps rather than bleeds, so Luffa does much less there. Know which debuff is actually on your bar before you burn the use.
