Blizzard has confirmed that Molten Core in WoW: Forever will get new mechanics. On the official WoW: Forever Podcast on October 22, 2026, Senior Game Designer Josh "Aggrend" Greenfield said players are "not just going to stand there and tank and spank Golemagg" and called the raid revamped or reimagined. Blizzard has not said when it opens or named any specific mechanic.

When does Molten Core open in WoW: Forever?
Nobody knows yet. Molten Core is not on the list of raids for December 9, 2026. That date covers Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair. Blizzard sets Forever's story "after the events of Warcraft III Reforged: Forsaken Kingdom and before Molten Core". That describes where the story sits. It is not a schedule for raid releases.

Blizzard's roadmap lists "a revamped iconic raid" for Summer 2027. Blizzard hasn't said which raid that is. Molten Core is the obvious guess, but it's a guess until Blizzard names it.
What does "revamped" mean for Golemagg and the other bosses?
The only firm detail is the intent: fights that used to be a stat check with little movement will ask more of the raid. In original Classic, Golemagg the Incinerator was a long fight against one boss and his two Core Rager dogs, and it mostly came down to damage output. Greenfield's comment signals that fights like this are getting real mechanics. No new abilities, phases or loot changes have been shown, so be wary of anyone describing them in detail.

On the same podcast, Lead Encounter Designer Michael Nuthals described the target difficulty as "beer and pretzels": you prepare, you execute, you collect new epics, and there's no excessive complexity. He also teased mechanics from the launch raids. One Barrow Deeps boss gives you a damage buff that comes with a cost, another fight is a pair of spiders, and a Hyjal Summit boss is an undead crocolisk with two alternating phases. A revamped Molten Core will probably be built the same way: more to do than tank and spank, but still not a modern Mythic raid. That's an inference, not a statement from Blizzard.
What should I raid first in Forever?
From December 9, level 60 characters can enter three raids. Barrow Deeps has eight bosses and is the prison that held Illidan. Hyjal Summit has 13 bosses and lets you choose between paths. Onyxia's Lair is a three-phase fight with heavy fire damage. Onyxia is the only one with a published attunement: every raider must carry the Drakefire Amulet from a faction questline that runs through Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire. Every raid is a single difficulty with no scaling, and all three are planned to reset weekly.
If you'd rather not handle the Drakefire Amulet chain or progression nights on your own, PewPewShop's vetted human players offer Forever attunement help from EUR 85 and raid sessions from EUR 441, booked for December 9. We'll offer Molten Core once Blizzard announces when it opens.
