In WoW: Forever, Honor gains are rebalanced so that camping Alterac Valley is no longer the fastest road to rank. Blizzard confirmed in its September 17, 2026 live Q&A (per Wowhead's recap) that Honor is retuned away from AV camping, PvP runs on a 14-rank Honor track that resets each season with no Rated PvP, and the new Darkspear Islands battleground carries its own reputation.

Why Alterac Valley camping got nerfed

In original 2004-era PvP, the smartest Honor per hour usually meant sitting in a long AV and farming kills at a choke rather than pushing for the win. Blizzard's Forever team said outright that gains are being moved away from that pattern. What we do not have yet are the actual values: how much a flag capture in Warsong Gulch is worth versus a base in Arathi Basin, or whether a win bonus scales with match length. Treat any specific percentage you see on forums right now as a guess until Blizzard prints the numbers or the beta exposes them.

The practical read for launch: expect objective play and wins across all four battlegrounds to matter more than kill counts in one map. Since Forever is realmless and battleground queues are shared across rulesets, queue times should also be healthier than a single small realm ever managed.

Is there Rated PvP in WoW: Forever?

No. Blizzard stated there is no Rated PvP at launch. Progression is the 14-rank Honor track, which resets each season. That makes the seasonal window the whole game: whatever rank you reach before the Spring 2027 PvP refresh is what you keep from that season.

What are the Honor rank rewards?

Wowhead datamined a reward list from the beta client, explicitly subject to change: tabard at rank 1, insignia at 2, cloak at 3, necklace at 4, combat potions at 5, elite tabard at 6, battle standard at 7, elite wrist and waist at 8, boots at 9, gloves at 10, Black War mounts at 11, shoulders and legs at 12, helm and chest at 13, and a Weapon Arsenal at 14. Whether the rank-14 weapons are the only endgame-quality PvP weapons is not confirmed.

What does the Darkspear Islands reputation give you?

Blizzard has only said the new battleground has its own reputation. Reward tiers, vendor items and how quickly it accrues per match are not published. The sensible comparison is the old Warsong Outriders and Defilers factions, which handed out gear and consumables at Friendly through Exalted, but do not assume the Darkspear Islands vendor mirrors those lists. Reputation from the battleground also feeds the Maximizing Reputations category of Legacy Challenges, so it likely counts toward account-wide Legacy points on top of whatever the faction itself sells.

Does the Legacy system speed up Honor farming?

Yes, a little. The Resourcefulness tree contains For Great Honor, which adds 2% Honor per rank, and Diplomat, which adds 2% reputation per rank. Both are account-wide perks bought with Legacy points from completed challenges, and Earning PvP Ranks is one of the six challenge categories, so ranking one character helps every alt afterward. Exact rank caps for these perks are not known.

Can you still farm Honor in Alterac Valley at all?

Of course. AV is back and still pays Honor; the change is that parking at a graveyard for an hour no longer beats playing objectives elsewhere. If you enjoy the long map, run it for the win and the reputation, then rotate through WSG, AB and the Darkspear Islands so daily play covers every source instead of one.
