Battleground Blitz has no dedicated addon — the same PvP toolkit that works in rated arenas and RBGs is what you want. The core four: BattleGroundEnemies for an enemy list with trinket, racial and diminishing-returns tracking; OmniCD for enemy cooldowns; Plater or ElvUI for readable nameplates and castbars; and Clique or mouseover macros so you can heal and CC without clicking frames. Everything else is comfort.

Set them up in this order

  1. Install BattleGroundEnemies and set the frame anchor somewhere near your character — eye travel costs you games.
  2. Enable trinket and racial tracking in BGE, and turn on the DR display. Knowing a target's stun DR is at half is a kill window.
  3. Install OmniCD, enable enemy tracking, and trim the list to defensives and immunities only. Twenty icons per player is noise.
  4. Set Plater to a PvP profile: big castbars, distinct colour for interruptible casts, health as a percentage.
  5. Bind Clique or write mouseover macros for your top three utility spells (CC, dispel, off-heal).
  6. Reduce the rest. Blitz is 8v8 chaos — every extra frame is a frame you didn't read.

Does Battleground Blitz need different addons than RBGs?

Not really. The addon set is identical; the tuning differs. Blitz is solo-queue, so you have no shot-calling voice channel — you lean harder on visual information. Bump enemy frame size and put objective-timer WeakAuras where you'll actually see them, because nobody is going to type the incoming call for you.

Are addons allowed in rated PvP?

Yes. Anything from CurseForge or Wago that uses Blizzard's official addon API is legal in every bracket, Blitz included. What is not allowed is anything that automates decisions or reads memory the API doesn't expose — bots, rotation scripts, packet-sniffers. Stick to the public addon sites and you're fine.

Can I play Blitz with no addons at all?

You can, and plenty of high-rated players run close to default. Blizzard's built-in arena/BG enemy frames cover targeting, and default nameplates show casts. The gap shows up in trinket tracking and enemy cooldowns — that's information you either track in your head or don't track at all. Below roughly 1800, positioning and objective sense matter far more than your UI.

Which addons are a waste of time in Blitz?

Anything that adds a second full-screen HUD, and most "all-in-one PvP suites" that duplicate what BGE and OmniCD already do. Heavy scanning addons can also cost frames during 16-player teamfights, which is exactly the moment you can't afford a stutter.
