For raiding in TBC Anniversary, a strong Enhancement Shaman build is 0/45/16: 45 points in Enhancement for Flurry, Stormstrike, Unleashed Rage and Shamanistic Rage, plus 16 in Restoration for Nature's Guidance (3% hit), Totemic Focus and Totemic Mastery. For PvP, keep the same shape but move group-buff points into Toughness and Anticipation.

Quick facts

  • Talent points at 70: 61. You get the first one at level 10.
  • Tier gating: each tier needs 5 points per earlier tier in that tree, so tier 7 opens after 30 points and tier 9 after 40.
  • Dual Wield and Stormstrike are tier 7 talents, so the earliest you can take them is level 40.
  • Shamanistic Rage (tier 9) is your 41st Enhancement point, so you can have it from level 50.
  • The builds below are our recommendations, not official Blizzard builds.

Raid build: 0/45/16 (our recommendation)

TierEnhancement (45)
1Ancestral Knowledge 5/5
2Thundering Strikes 5/5, Improved Ghost Wolf 2/2
3Enhancing Totems 2/2, Shamanistic Focus 1/1
4Flurry 5/5
5Improved Weapon Totems 2/2, Spirit Weapons 1/1, Elemental Weapons 3/3
6Mental Quickness 3/3, Weapon Mastery 5/5
7Dual Wield 1/1, Dual Wield Specialization 3/3, Stormstrike 1/1
8Unleashed Rage 5/5
9Shamanistic Rage 1/1

Restoration (16): Tidal Focus 5/5, Totemic Focus 5/5, Improved Reincarnation 2/2, Nature's Guidance 3/3, Totemic Mastery 1/1.

Groups bring you mostly for the buffs. Unleashed Rage gives your party 10% melee attack power after your crits, Improved Weapon Totems makes Windfury Totem 30% stronger, and Enhancing Totems adds 15% to Strength of Earth and Grace of Air. Totemic Mastery pushes your friendly totems out to 30 yards, so melee spread around a boss stays covered.

What should I change once I am hit-capped?

Nature's Guidance only gives hit, so it is worth less once your gear covers the cap. A common move is to put those points into Healing Focus or Healing Grace. Keep Dual Wield Specialization, though. Its 6% hit only applies while dual wielding, which is how you will be playing.

What is the best TBC Enhancement PvP build?

Our arena version is also 0/45/16. It drops Enhancing Totems, Improved Weapon Totems and 3 ranks of Unleashed Rage, and puts those 7 points into Toughness 5/5 and Anticipation 2/5. Toughness cuts the length of slows on you by 50%, which matters more for a melee class than almost anything else. The Restoration points stay the same.

What order should I take talents in while leveling?

Go Ancestral Knowledge, then Thundering Strikes and Improved Ghost Wolf. After those, take Shamanistic Focus and Enhancing Totems, then Flurry by about level 29. Next come Elemental Weapons, Weapon Mastery and Mental Quickness. At level 40, Dual Wield and Stormstrike become your big upgrade. Then take Unleashed Rage, then Shamanistic Rage at 50, which solves most of your mana trouble. From 55, the points go into Restoration.

Should Enhancement take Totem of Wrath?

No. Totem of Wrath is the last talent in the Elemental tree and needs 40 points there before you can take it. A melee Shaman cannot reach it and still keep Stormstrike and Shamanistic Rage, so leave it to Elemental players.
