Dungeon leveling in TBC Classic runs 58-70 through Outland instances in roughly the order the zones unlock: Hellfire Ramparts and Blood Furnace, then Slave Pens, Underbog and Mana-Tombs, Auchenai Crypts and Sethekk Halls in the 60s, and Steamvault, Shattered Halls and Shadow Labyrinth at 68-70. Chain-run each instance while the quests inside are still green.
The dungeon route, level by level

| 62-64 | The Slave Pens | Zangarmarsh |
| 63-65 | The Underbog | Zangarmarsh |
| 64-66 | Mana-Tombs | Terokkar Forest |
| 65-67 | Auchenai Crypts | Terokkar Forest |
| 66-68 | Sethekk Halls | Terokkar Forest |
| 67-69 | Mana-Forge Bota, The Steamvault | Netherstorm, Zangarmarsh |
| 68-70 | Shadow Labyrinth, The Shattered Halls | Terokkar, Hellfire |
How to actually make it fast
- Pick up every quest that points into the instance before you zone in. The dungeon quests in TBC are large chunks of experience, and turning in three of them at once often beats the entire clear.
- Run each instance until its quests are done and the mobs start dropping toward green. Then move up a tier — grey mobs are the point where dungeon spam falls behind questing.
- Keep a stable group. Re-forming a five-man between every run is where most of the time actually goes, not the pulls.
- Clear trash rather than skipping it while you are under-level. Skipping is a max-level habit; while leveling, the trash is the experience.
- Mix in a quest chunk when you out-level a bracket early — Hellfire and Zangarmarsh quests fill gaps far faster than repeating a dungeon whose mobs no longer pay.
Is dungeon spam faster than questing in TBC Classic?
For most players, no — not on its own. Pure questing in Outland is very well tuned, and a solo player who knows the zone routes usually beats a random dungeon group. Dungeons win when you have a reliable premade, a tank and healer who are already friends, and you combine the runs with the quests inside.
The hybrid is what actually wins: quest through a zone, bank the dungeon quests, then clear the instance two or three times in a row before moving on.
What level can I start Outland dungeons?
Hellfire Ramparts opens at 58 for characters who have stepped through the Dark Portal, and that is the practical starting point — 58 is also when Outland quest greens outclass anything you carried from Azeroth. Going in at exactly 58 works, but a couple of levels of Hellfire questing first makes the runs noticeably smoother for the group.
Do I need a specific group composition?
A tank, a healer and three damage dealers is still the baseline. TBC hits harder than Classic era does — crowd control genuinely matters, so a mage, hunter, rogue or warlock who will actually sheep, trap, sap or banish a pull is worth more than a higher damage number. Bring water and food; downtime between pulls is the real tax.
What about heroics at 70?
Heroic versions of the Outland dungeons need level 70 plus the appropriate faction reputation key, so they are an endgame gearing path, not a leveling one. Save them for when you have hit 70 and started building your first set.
