In The War Within Season 3, Delves reward Hero-track gear from tier 8+ Bountiful Coffers, higher Hero-track pieces from the Great Vault delve row, Runed crests from tier 8 upward, plus the Delver's Journey reward track, achievements and cosmetics. Rewards scale with tier up to tier 11, but tier 8 is the point where the gear payoff genuinely starts — everything above it is about crests, vault quality and bragging rights.

Season 3 Delve rewards at a glance

Tier rangeWhat you get
Tier 1–3Adventurer / Veteran-track gear from Bountiful Coffers, Weathered crests, Brann experience
Tier 4–7Champion-track gear from Bountiful Coffers, Carved crests, better vault slot quality
Tier 8Hero-track gear from Bountiful Coffers, Runed crests, and the tier that unlocks Hero-quality Great Vault rewards
Tier 9–11Same gear track as tier 8 with tougher scaling, tier-specific achievements, cosmetic rewards and the top-end weekly stash
  • Bountiful Delves: four rotate each day. Clearing one lets you open its Bountiful Coffer with a Restored Coffer Key for a guaranteed gear piece at that tier's item level.
  • Great Vault: completing 2, 4 and 8 delves in a week fills three vault slots. The lowest tier among your counted runs sets the reward level, so run tier 8 or higher for all of them.
  • Restored Coffer Keys: earned weekly from Coffer Key Shards (world activities, weekly quests, delve chests). You cannot stockpile unlimited keys, so spend them every week.
  • Delver's Journey: a seasonal progress track that hands out keys, cosmetics and other rewards as you complete delves.
  • Crests: Weathered at low tiers, Carved mid, Runed from tier 8. Gilded crests come only from the very top of the delve ladder, not from ordinary clears.

Which delve tier should I farm for the best rewards?

Tier 8. It is the first tier where Bountiful Coffers drop Hero-track gear and where your Great Vault delve row reaches Hero quality. Tiers 9, 10 and 11 do not raise the coffer gear track; they add harder scaling, achievements, cosmetic rewards and the top weekly stash.

If you are still under-geared, Champion-track items from tier 5–7 are a fast, low-stress bridge — a few days of Bountiful runs there usually makes tier 8 comfortable.

How did Season 2 delve rewards compare to Season 3?

The skeleton is identical: Bountiful Coffers, Restored Coffer Keys, tier-gated crests and three vault slots. Season 3 raised every item level to match the new raid tier, so a Hero-track piece from a Season 2 tier 8 coffer is now well below a Season 3 one. Season 2 also introduced the Delver's Journey track, which Season 3 kept and refilled with new rewards.

Practical takeaway: Season 2 delve gear is catch-up quality now, not a reason to skip the current season's tier 8 runs.

Do delves give Gilded crests in Season 3?

Not from normal clears. Regular tier 8+ runs pay Runed crests, which cap you at Hero-track upgrades. Gilded crests from delves are limited to the top-end weekly stash and the hardest seasonal delve content, and the amounts are small next to heroic raiding or high Mythic+ keys.

What about Midnight delve seasons?

Midnight kept delves as a solo-friendly gearing path and added its own events — Ritual Sites and the Nullaeus encounter among them — but the core loop of tiers, coffers, keys and vault slots carries over. A Midnight Season 3 is not something we can confirm yet; treat any details you see about it as unverified until Blizzard posts the season notes.
