WoW Classic has no fixed honor price per rank. Ranks are driven by Rank Points (RP), and honor is only the fuel: Rank 2 needs 2,000 RP, Rank 3 needs 5,000, and each rank after that adds 5,000 RP up to 60,000 for Rank 14. Once a week your honor for that week is converted into RP, and 20% of your current RP decays at the same reset.

How honor turns into Rank Points
- You need at least 15 honorable kills in the week to be counted at all. Below that, no RP is awarded and decay still hits.
- On the original 2019-2021 Classic system, RP came from your weekly standing on the server, not your honor total. Standing 1 earned the maximum 13,000 RP; everyone below got proportionally less. Two players with identical honor on different realms could get very different RP.
- Classic Era, Hardcore and the Anniversary realms use the 2023 reworked system: RP is awarded on your own honor for the week, with a weekly honor cap of 500,000. Hitting that cap gives the full weekly RP gain, and nobody else's numbers affect you.
- At every weekly reset you lose 20% of your current RP before the new week's gain is added. That is why high ranks demand consistency rather than one big week.
How many weeks does Rank 14 take?
Around 12 weeks if you reach the weekly honor cap every single week on the reworked system. The math behind that: with max weekly gain and 20% decay, your RP settles just above 60,000, so you cross the Rank 14 line only after roughly a dozen consecutive full weeks. Miss the cap for a week and you slide back, which can add several weeks to the grind.
On the old standing-based system it was similar in length but far less predictable, because you had to outscore other rankers on your realm rather than a fixed number.
How much honor is 500,000 in practice?
It is a lot. Kill honor depends on the target's level and rank, and repeated kills on the same player lose value quickly through diminishing returns (each extra kill of the same person within a day gives less, down to nothing). In practice the cap means premade Alterac Valley or Warsong Gulch sessions most days of the week, plus bonus honor from battleground objectives and turn-in tokens.
Do Ranks 1-10 also cost 5,000 RP each?
Not the first two. Rank 2 is only 2,000 RP and Rank 3 is 5,000, so the early ranks come quickly. From Rank 4 (10,000 RP) onward every step is exactly 5,000 RP. Because the early jumps are small and decay is a percentage of a small pool, casual players can hold Rank 6-8 with a few evenings of battlegrounds per week, while Ranks 12-14 require near-daily play.
Does honor decay, or only Rank Points?
Only Rank Points decay. Your honor for the week is spent into the RP calculation at reset and then the weekly counter starts from zero. Lifetime honorable kills never go down and are what unlock the Rank 1-14 quartermaster gear once you hold the matching rank.
