Delve loot scales with the tier you clear — every step up raises the item level of what drops from the Bountiful chest at the end of the run. Low tiers give catch-up gear for fresh characters; the higher tiers (Tier 8 and up) are where Delve rewards start competing with dungeon and raid drops. Clearing Delves each week also fills a dedicated Great Vault slot.
- Where the loot is: the reward chest at the end of a Bountiful Delve — not from trash mobs along the way. Regular (non-Bountiful) Delves still give currency, reputation and Vault progress, but no chest.
- What gates the chest: you need a Coffer Key (or the restored/undermined key currency of the current season) to open a Bountiful chest. No key, no gear.
- Tier = item level. Each tier you unlock and clear bumps the reward band. You unlock higher tiers by clearing the tier below in that Delve.
- Great Vault: Delve clears feed their own Vault row. Run several across the week and the Vault offers you a choice on reset — the quality of that choice is set by the highest tiers you cleared.
- Also drops: Delve-specific currencies, profession materials, pets, mounts and cosmetics from the deeper tiers and seasonal Delve events.
- Solo-friendly: Delves scale for 1-5 players and your Brann companion levels up, which materially changes how high a tier you can push alone.
What is the best Delve tier to farm?
For most players the honest answer is the highest tier you can clear comfortably in under ~15 minutes. A fast Tier 8 run repeated is worth more per hour than one grinding attempt at a tier that keeps killing you, because the Vault only counts clears.
If you are gearing a fresh alt, the low and mid tiers are the fastest catch-up in the game right now — cheap, soloable, no group to organise. Once your gear plateaus, push tier rather than volume: the Vault slot upgrades with tier, not with run count beyond the required number of clears.
Why did I not get loot from my Delve?
Two usual causes. First, the Delve was not Bountiful — only Bountiful Delves have the end chest, and which ones are Bountiful rotates, so check the map icon before you queue in. Second, you had no key to open it. Keys are capped and earned through weekly activities, so a heavy Delve week runs dry fast.
Also worth knowing: the chest is once per Bountiful Delve per reset window. Re-running the same one for a second chest does not work, though the run still counts toward your Vault.
How do I "collect your reward" in a Delve?
Finish the objective, then walk to the chest that spawns at the end and interact with it. If it shows a lock, you are missing the key currency. Take the gear, and remember the Great Vault reward is separate — that one you collect from the Vault in the city on weekly reset, not in the Delve itself.
Are Delves worth running if I already raid?
Yes, for one reason: the extra Great Vault slot is free progression that costs you no raid night. Even if the drops themselves sit below your raid gear, the Vault choice each week can hand you a tier-appropriate piece for a weak slot. Most raiders bank the minimum clears for the Vault and skip the rest.
