WoW: Forever keeps the three Rogue talent trees and adds new milestone talents. Assassination gets Mutilate at 21 points (two daggers, 60 Energy) and the Venom poison finisher at 31. In Combat, Hack and Slash replaces the old weapon specializations and adds one-handed axes. Subtlety ends in Thousand Cuts. For every Rogue, poisons now stack with sharpening stones and weightstones.

These details come from Blizzard's official Rogue and Warlock class deep dive, published October 7, 2026. Talents can still change before the November 4 launch.

How does Mutilate work in WoW: Forever?

Mutilate is the 21-point Assassination milestone. It costs 60 Energy and strikes with both hands, and both weapons have to be daggers. It deals extra damage to poisoned targets and awards 2 combo points. Because it hits with both weapons, you get two chances to crit per press. That makes it a natural fit with Seal Fate, which no longer requires Cold Blood.

Other Assassination changes: Vigor is now a 2-point talent in row 5, and Improved Poisons also gives a large chance that a poison application won't use a charge.

What does the Venom finisher do?

Venom is the new 31-point Assassination milestone. It's a 25 Energy finisher that makes your poisons deal 30% more damage and apply 10% more often. Its duration scales with combo points, so you keep it running alongside your other finishers. Blizzard hasn't published exact durations per combo point.

Can Rogues use axes in Forever?

Yes. All Rogues can equip one-handed axes. The Combat talent Hack and Slash (row 5) replaces Dagger, Mace, Sword and Fist Weapon Specialization. Axes get the sword-style extra-attack chance, and maces now ignore some armor instead of stunning. Weapon Expertise now lowers the target's dodge and parry, and Aggression also boosts Backstab. Deflection gives twice as much parry per point, and Precision now covers spells and poisons. Flawless Execution, the 16-point milestone, makes Eviscerate cost 10 less Energy.

What changed for Subtlety?

Premeditation moves to the 16-point milestone and lasts 20 seconds. The capstone is Thousand Cuts: each Rupture tick makes your next Hemorrhage or Backstab cost 3 less Energy, stacking up to 5 times. New Subtlety talents include:

  • Quietus: Sinister Strike, Ghostly Strike and Hemorrhage hit harder against targets below 35% health.
  • Cutthroat: Backstab can let your next Ambush be used outside Stealth.
  • Improved Distract

A few talents were reworked. Dirty Tricks (formerly Improved Sap) makes Sap and Blind cheaper. Dirty Deeds lets you use Garrote from the front. Hemorrhage now also raises Rupture damage for 15 seconds. Sleight of Hand and Deadliness were removed.

Are Rogues the top damage class in Forever?

That's the stated design goal. Principal Designer Kris Zierhut said on the WoW: Forever podcast that Rogues should have the highest single-target damage on a standstill boss fight, not counting mechanics. Blizzard's deep dive calls it the highest potential single-target melee damage in the game. Treat this as intent, not measured results. On the beta, the level cap is 30, which is too low to reach the 31-point talents, so Venom and Thousand Cuts can't be tested yet.

If you'd rather reach those talents sooner, PewPewShop's vetted players offer coaching and play-together leveling for launch. Forever Dungeon Leveling starts from EUR 40, and the full WoW: Forever Power Leveling 1–60 starts from EUR 990, queued for November 4.
