Tier 1 quick facts

Completing Tier 1 in WoW: Forever requires all three level 60 raids, which open together on December 9, 2026, per Blizzard's roadmap. The split comes from developer statements of intent, not patch notes, so details can still move.

Can a 10-man group finish the Tier 1 set?

No. A group that only clears Barrow Deeps gets a lot of Tier 1 but cannot finish it, according to the Crix interview summary on Wowhead. Blizzard has not said how many pieces that covers.

Barrow Deeps is the only 10-player raid right now. Hyjal Summit needs 20 players and Onyxia's Lair needs 40, and neither scales down. A small guild therefore needs more bodies for the last pieces, and everyone must share the same ruleset and faction.

Is 10-man gear weaker than 20-man gear?

It should not be. Developers said in the Crix interview that item level should be level across raid sizes, because raid size does not change how hard the encounters are.

Small groups also should not need to stack classes. Shaman buff totems are raid-wide, all raid buffs last an hour, and the team wants fewer Blessings. Clay Stone has also said gear should see only a little power growth between raid tiers, so a good 10-man piece should stay useful for a while.

How do Tier Tokens turn into set pieces?

Tier pieces are not plain gear drops in Forever. A raid drops a Tier Token, the token opens a series of quests, and the last quest gives the Tier Piece, per Blizzard's launch overview video as reported by Wowhead.

Blizzard says "you won't be able to complete these quests completely on your own", because some steps need group content. Exact steps and quest names are not announced, so leave some guild time for token quests on top of raid nights.

Does Tier 1 still come from Molten Core?

Nothing Blizzard has said ties Forever's Tier 1 to Molten Core. In original Classic, Tier 1 dropped there, which is why the two get mixed up. Forever's set is described as split across Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair.

Developers have confirmed that Molten Core will get new mechanics, but no date exists and plans for legacy raids remain unshared. Classic Tier 1 sets dropping from starter-zone mobs in the end-of-beta event prove nothing, because Blizzard said those items are not in Forever after launch.

What should you prepare for the Onyxia part of the set?

Prepare the Drakefire Amulet first, then fire resistance. Blizzard's raid overview requires every raid member to carry the amulet and tells players to build fire resistance before entering.

All three raids also feed the Legacy system. Defeating Onyxia, all 13 Hyjal Summit bosses and all 8 Barrow Deeps bosses each counts as a separate Legacy Challenge, so the full tier route pays out beyond the gear.

If you would rather play alongside a vetted team than build that roster yourself, PewPewShop offers raid help with human players, booked for December 9: Barrow Deeps runs from 520 EUR, and the three-raid bundle runs from 1859 EUR.

Frequently asked questions

What raids drop the Tier 1 set in WoW: Forever?

The set is split across Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia's Lair, and developers said in the Crix interview, per Wowhead, that finishing it takes all three. Which bosses drop tokens and which slots come from which raid have not been announced.

When do raids open in WoW: Forever?

Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and the 40-player Onyxia's Lair all unlock on December 9, 2026, per Blizzard's roadmap. All three require level 60 and are currently planned to reset weekly, so each character gets one set of attempts per lockout.

How many bosses are in Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit?

Barrow Deeps has eight bosses and Hyjal Summit has 13, per Blizzard's raid overview. Hyjal Summit opens with a fight against an ancient guardian, then groups choose among multiple paths. The developers said all three wings are needed to reach its last part.

Do Barrow Deeps and Hyjal Summit need attunement?

Nothing has been published about attunement for Barrow Deeps or Hyjal Summit. The only published raid requirement is for Onyxia's Lair, where every raid member must carry the Drakefire Amulet from a faction-specific questline. Check Blizzard's notes before December 9 in case that changes.

Can you raid with friends on another ruleset or faction?

No. Characters in WoW: Forever can group, join guilds, run dungeons and raid only within the same ruleset and faction. A small guild looking for partners to fill Hyjal Summit or Onyxia's Lair has to find them on its own ruleset and side.

Will there be more 10-player raids in WoW: Forever?

Yes, more are planned. Blizzard's roadmap lists a new 10-player and a new 20-player raid for Spring 2027, and developers described two large content updates about four months apart. How future tier sets will be divided between raid sizes has not been announced.
