In WoW: Forever, Warrior talents open at level 10 and keep the classic three trees, with a new 16-point medal in each. Arms gets Spearing Strike and Weaponmaster, Fury gets Raging Blows and Protection gets Vanguard. Victory Rush is baseline at level 20. Rage now ignores armor on damage taken and is normalized to weapon speed on damage dealt.

How does Warrior Rage work in Forever?

Rage from damage taken ignores Armor and absorbs. The game calculates it as if Armor always cut damage by 50%, so a geared tank no longer starves. Rage from damage you deal is normalized to weapon speed, which means slow and fast weapons generate on even terms. Critical strikes give extra Rage again. With Shield Specialization, a block has a chance to give 5 Rage.

Rage is still being tuned. Blizzard said it is tracking down Rage generation bugs on the beta and that the fixes may take a couple of weeks. Designer Aidan Moon said a bug skewed dual-wield Rage. The intended values are +100% Rage on a crit and +50% off-hand Rage from the Dual Wield talent. Expect the numbers to move before launch on November 4.

What does Weaponmaster do?

Weaponmaster is an Arms talent that replaces Axe, Mace, Sword and Polearm Specialization. With axes and polearms it adds critical strike. With maces and staves it adds armor penetration. With swords it grants extra attacks. Other changes in Arms:

  • Spearing Strike (16-point medal): 15 Rage, 20-sec cooldown. It dismounts the target and deals double damage to mounted targets, Dragons and Giants.
  • Improved Tactical Mastery lets you keep up to 25 Rage when you swap stances.
  • Improved Slam is now 2 points and stops resetting your swing timer.
  • Bloodthrill is new, and Iron Will moves into Arms.

What are Raging Blows and the Fury changes?

Raging Blows is the Fury 16-point medal. It makes Whirlwind strike with both weapons and lowers the cost of Cleave. Fury also gets these changes:

  • Boundless Rage raises your maximum Rage.
  • Enrage now triggers from any damage you take.
  • Death Wish increases the damage you take instead of lowering your armor.
  • Flurry is 5% weaker.
  • Bloodthirst no longer heals. It gives 10% movement speed for 10 sec instead.

What is Vanguard for Protection?

Vanguard is the Protection 16-point medal, and it lets you Charge in Defensive Stance. Improved Shield Block and Improved Taunt are now baseline. Improved Shield Wall cuts that cooldown sharply. Bastion adds damage while you wear a shield, and Defiance now requires one. Master of Defense and Focused Rage round out the tree.

Talents and Rage values can still change during the beta, which runs until October 21. Respecs on the beta cost only 1 silver, so it is a cheap place to test all three trees.
