Questie's quest database files 29 quests under Dire Maul in WoW Classic, or 32 if you count the separate Horde and Alliance versions. Most are level 60. The earliest can be picked up at level 54. Which Dire Maul quests should you pick up before entering?
Grab the Feralas quests first. Horde players start with Camp Mojache from Warcaller Gorlach in Orgrimmar, which sends you to Talo Thornhoof for Lethtendris's Web. Alliance players get Lethtendris's Web from Latronicus Moonspear at Feathermoon Stronghold. Both factions should pick up Elven Legends, which asks you to find Kariel Winthalus, and Pusillin and the Elder Azj'Tordin, which sends you after the imp Pusillin for a book of incantations.
What are the class book quests?
Eight books drop inside Dire Maul. Each starts a quest to return it to the Athenaeum, and you need level 54 to take them. Lorekeeper Kildrath takes Codex of Defense, Garona: A Study on Stealth and Treachery and The Arcanist's Cookbook. Lorekeeper Javon takes Frost Shock and You, Holy Bologna: What the Light Won't Tell You and The Emerald Dream. Lorekeeper Mykos takes Harnessing Shadows and The Light and How To Swing It.
What do the Libram quests need?
Lorekeeper Lydros turns each Libram into an Arcanum, used to enchant head and leg slots. All three need the Libram and a Pristine Black Diamond. Focus also needs 4 Large Brilliant Shards and 2 Skin of Shadow. Protection needs 2 shards and 1 Frayed Abomination Stitching. Rapidity needs 2 shards and 2 Blood of Heroes. You must be level 58.
How do the longer quest chains work?
The Madness Within has you kill the guardians at the five pylons around Immol'thar's prison. Finishing it unlocks The Treasure of the Shen'dralar, a chest in the Athenaeum. Falrin's Vendetta asks for 25 Ogre Warbeads, which drop from ogres in Dire Maul or Blackrock Spire. It leads to The Instigator's Enchantment, which needs a Jeering Spectre's Essence, 4 Dark Runes and 8 Large Brilliant Shards. Foror's Compendium of Dragon Slaying opens The Forging of Quel'Serrar. The two amulet quests from Bodley have you summon and kill Isalien with the Brazier of Beckoning.
