In TBC Classic you get arena points once a week: play at least 10 rated arena matches on a 2v2, 3v3 or 5v5 team before the weekly reset, and on reset day you are paid points based on your team's rating. Higher rating means more points, and 5v5 pays more than 3v3, which pays more than 2v2. There is no way to earn arena points from battlegrounds, quests or honor — rated arena is the only source.
Step by step: your first arena points
- Reach level 70. Arena teams are level 70 only.
- Buy a team charter from an Arena Battlemaster (found in Stormwind, Orgrimmar, the Ring of Trials in Nagrand and Area 52 in Netherstorm). A 2v2 charter is the cheapest, 5v5 the most expensive.
- Get the required signatures and turn the charter in to create the team.
- Queue rated games from the Battlemaster or the arena queue NPC. Skirmishes do not count — only rated matches.
- Play a minimum of 10 rated games that week. You personally must also have played roughly a third of the team's games that week to be eligible.
- Wait for the weekly reset (Tuesday on US realms, Wednesday on EU). Points land in your Currency tab automatically.

Because payout scales with rating rather than with number of wins, a 5v5 team that sits at 1500 and plays exactly 10 games earns more each week than a 2v2 team at the same rating grinding fifty. That is why many players keep a 5v5 team purely for the weekly points, even if their real focus is 2v2.
How many arena points do you get per week in TBC Classic?
A fresh team that stays around 1500 rating collects roughly 260 points in 2v2, around 300 in 3v3 and around 340 in 5v5. The curve is steep above 1500: teams pushing past 1800–2000 pull in noticeably more, while a team that tanks below 1500 sees its payout shrink quickly. Losing all 10 games still pays something, as long as you played the minimum.
Do you lose arena points if you don't play?
No. Points you already have stay in your currency tab whether or not you play. You simply do not earn a fresh batch that week. Points also carry across seasons — you keep them when a new season starts, though the gear you can spend them on changes.
What can you buy with arena points?
Arena points are the only currency for the current season's Gladiator armor and weapons, sold by arena vendors in Area 52 and at the Ring of Trials. Big-ticket items like weapons cost several weeks of a mid-rating team's income, so plan purchases around the 5,000 cap. Some high-end pieces — weapons and shoulders in particular — also require a personal rating, not just the points.
Can you get arena points from honor or battlegrounds?
No. Honor and arena points are separate systems in TBC Classic. Honor buys the previous season's arena gear and PvP off-pieces once it rotates down, but current-season gear only ever comes from arena points earned through rated matches.
