Zereth Mortis is Shadowlands content, not a Midnight zone. You unlock it by taking a level 60+ character through the Shadowlands campaign and the Chains of Domination (9.1) chapters, then picking up the Eternity's End intro quest in Oribos, which flies you into the zone. Nothing in Midnight gates it — at current max level the whole chain is a fast solo run.
Quick facts
- Expansion: Shadowlands, patch 9.2 (Eternity's End) — legacy content during Midnight.
- Level needed: 60 (the Shadowlands cap). Any modern max-level character clears this easily.
- Prerequisite: Shadowlands campaign plus the 9.1 Korthia / Maw campaign.
- Entry point: Oribos — the intro quest chain starts and ends there.
- Zone systems: The Enlightened renown, Cypher of the First Ones research, Pocopoc, Protoform Synthesis crafting.
- Raid attached: Sepulcher of the First Ones, soloable at Midnight gear levels.
Step by step
- Bring a character to level 60 or higher — anything at current cap works.
- Complete the base Shadowlands campaign. Threads of Fate speeds up leveling, but the campaign chapters themselves still have to be done.
- Run the Chains of Domination (9.1) campaign through Korthia and the Maw.
- Return to Oribos and pick up the Eternity's End intro quest from the campaign marker on the Ring of Fates.
- Follow the intro chain — it carries you into Zereth Mortis and hands you Pocopoc and the Cypher console.
- Keep working the zone's own campaign chapters to open dailies, The Enlightened renown and the rest of the map.
Is Zereth Mortis part of WoW: Midnight?
No. It belongs to Shadowlands and sits on the old Shadowlands map, reached through Oribos. Midnight has its own zones, seasons and Delve content; Zereth Mortis is simply still there as farmable legacy content, the same way Argus or Nazjatar are.
If a search result implies Midnight "added" Zereth Mortis, treat it as noise — the two are separate chapters of the game.
Do I really have to do the whole Shadowlands campaign?
The campaign is the gate, yes, but at Midnight power levels it plays very differently. Mobs die in a hit or two, and you can skip the optional side content entirely and follow only the campaign markers. Most people do it across one long session rather than the multi-week grind it was in 2021.
How do I get flying in Zereth Mortis?
Flying in that zone was never part of a broad Pathfinder meta — it is tied to progressing the Zereth Mortis campaign and your Cypher of the First Ones research. Push the zone's own chapters and keep feeding the Cypher console; the ability opens as that progression advances. Until then, ground mounts and the zone's teleport network handle travel.
What is still worth farming there?
Protoform Synthesis is the big one — Genesis Motes and pattern drops let you craft a long list of mounts and battle pets, and that system is still live. The Sepulcher of the First Ones is soloable for transmog and the Jailer's non-Mythic drops. Note that the Mythic-only raid mount was retired when Shadowlands ended, so any guide promising it is out of date.
If you would rather spend your play time in current content, PewPewShop's vetted human players can coach you through legacy chains or handle Midnight progression alongside you — a Mythic +10 Timed Run for Midnight Season One starts from EUR 19.98. No bots, no cheats, just people who run this content daily.
