In WoW: Forever, Paladins no longer have Blessing of Salvation. Blizzard's October 15 beta development notes replace Blessing of Salvation and Greater Blessing of Salvation with two new spells, Salvation and Mass Salvation. They are not exclusive with blessings, so they stop using up a blessing slot. A new Paladin ability called Revoke was added with them. This is beta tuning and may still change.

The same build also made several group buffs raid-wide: Battle Shout, Trueshot Aura, Leader of the Pack, Moonkin Aura and the Grace of Air, Strength of Earth, Windfury and Flametongue totems. It raised the Holy threat bonus of Righteous Fury to 90% (it was 60%), and Power Word: Shield no longer overwrites Seal of Fury.

What players ask next

Why does it matter that Salvation is no longer a blessing?

In Classic, Blessing of Salvation competed for the same slot as Might, Wisdom and Kings. Raid leaders had to decide which damage dealers got Salvation and which got a stat blessing, and tanks had to right-click it off. Because Salvation is now separate, a Paladin can give it without taking away a blessing. That makes Paladin buff assignments much simpler.

What does Revoke do?

Blizzard's notes list Revoke as a new ability that comes with Salvation and Mass Salvation. The summary of those notes doesn't explain how it works. From the name, it probably removes Salvation from a target, such as a tank who doesn't want less threat, but Blizzard hasn't confirmed that yet. Test it on the beta or check the tooltip at launch before you plan around it.

Does Salvation still reduce threat, and by how much?

In Classic, Blessing of Salvation lowered the target's threat by 30% for five minutes. Blizzard hasn't published threat numbers, durations or learn levels for the Forever versions. Assume Salvation is still the Paladin's threat tool, but don't count on a specific percentage until the live tooltip shows one.

Do tanks still need to cancel it?

That depends on how Mass Salvation works and on what Revoke does, and neither is fully documented yet. If Mass Salvation covers the whole group, Revoke is the obvious candidate for clearing it off your tank. Until that's confirmed, tanks should keep checking their buff bar after big buff rounds, the same as in Classic.

The bigger Paladin picture

Salvation is one of many Paladin changes in Forever. Holy Strike arrives at level 6, Judgement no longer uses up your active Seal, and Seal of Fury gives Protection a real tanking Seal with a 10-yard Judgement taunt. Resistance auras now reach the whole raid, and Lay on Hands has a 20-minute cooldown. Blessing of Kings is now baseline, so it no longer sits deep in a talent tree. All of this comes from Blizzard's own beta notes and class deep dive, and it can still change before November 4.
