Barrens Rare Spawn Set in WoW: Forever — the 5% Speed Bonus

On the WoW: Forever beta, the Barrens rares Humar the Pridelord, Swiftmane and Takk the Leaper each drop a piece of a new open-world item set, and wearing any two pieces grants 5% movement speed while you are in the Barrens or Stonetalon Mountains. Where do Humar, Swiftmane and Takk spawn?

All three are classic Barrens rares and they roam rather than sit still. Humar the Pridelord is the black lion of the southern Barrens plains; Takk the Leaper is the raptor rare found around the eastern raptor country; Swiftmane patrols the open grassland. Blizzard has not published Forever spawn tables, and beta spawn points have not been confirmed piece by piece, so treat exact coordinates from any source as unverified.

Practical method: ride a wide loop of the Barrens on your normal leveling route and check the roaming paths each pass. Because these are beast rares in a low-level zone, they die fast once found — the hard part is the search, not the fight.

Is a 5% speed bonus in two zones actually worth farming?

Honestly: it is a nice-to-have, not a must-have. Five percent shaves a little off every ride between Crossroads, Ratchet and the Stonetalon road, and the Barrens is a zone you cross constantly in your 10s and 20s. But mounts now come from riding training rather than a separate purchase, so the window where you are on foot is shorter than it used to be.

Grab the pieces if you happen on a rare while questing. Standing still and camping a spawn for hours is a worse use of leveling time.

Does the set still matter at level 60?

Unknown. Forever stops at 60 forever and adds content in patches, and Blizzard has said old loot is meant to stay relevant longer — but nobody has published whether these Barrens pieces scale, hold value, or become a pure cosmetic pickup. Appearance level restrictions lift at 60, so the look is worth collecting either way.

Is any of this final?

No. Beta builds change weekly, and Blizzard has already retracted or fixed beta findings — the shortened Auto Shot cast time, for example, was confirmed as a bug on September 23. Verify set bonuses again after launch on November 4.
