Nine times out of ten, WoW Midnight crashes come from outdated addons or a stale graphics driver, not a broken client. Disable every addon, update your GPU driver, then switch the graphics API from DirectX 12 to DirectX 11 in System > Advanced. Finish with Scan and Repair in the Battle.net app to replace corrupted game files. Most players are stable again after those four steps.

Fix it in this order

  1. Kill the addons first. On the character select screen, open AddOns, uncheck everything, log in and play for 20 minutes. Stable? Re-enable them in halves until the crash returns. That bisect finds the culprit in about four logins.
  2. Update the graphics driver. Not through Windows Update — grab it straight from NVIDIA, AMD or Intel. New expansions ship new rendering paths, and a driver from six months ago is a common crash source.
  3. Drop to DirectX 11. System > Advanced > Graphics API. DX12 is faster on healthy hardware but far more sensitive to unstable memory clocks and older drivers.
  4. Scan and Repair. Battle.net app > WoW > gear icon > Scan and Repair. Fixes corrupt files left behind by an interrupted patch.
  5. Reset the cache folders. Close the game and rename (do not delete) Cache, WTF and Interface in your World of Warcraft folder. The game rebuilds clean defaults; your old settings stay recoverable.
  6. Turn off overlays. Discord, Steam, GeForce Experience, MSI Afterburner and RGB software all hook the game process and all show up in crash reports.
  7. Undo overclocks. Set CPU, RAM (including XMP/EXPO) and GPU back to stock for one session. A memory overclock that survives every other game will still fold in a 25-player raid.

Is it the addons or the game itself?

Assume addons until proven otherwise. Every expansion breaks the addon API, and an outdated boss mod or unit frame will hard-crash you the moment it fires. Update everything through your addon manager, and delete anything that has not been touched by its author since the pre-patch.

If a clean, addon-free client still crashes in the same place, the problem is hardware, driver or file integrity — move down the list above.

What do the crash error codes mean?

Error 132 is a fatal exception, usually memory-related: bad RAM timings, an overclock, or a driver fault. Error 134 points at damaged game data, so Scan and Repair is the direct answer. Codes starting WOW519 are disconnects, not crashes — those live on the network side, so test a wired connection and reset your router before touching game settings.

Why does it only crash in raids or Mythic+?

Because that is where the game asks for the most at once. Thirty players, layered spell effects and a wall of addon frames can push VRAM past what your card holds, and the client dies rather than stutters. Lower Particle Density and Shadow Quality, turn off ray tracing, and cap your frame rate. Those three cost little visually and remove most instance-only crashes.

Should I reinstall the game?

Almost never. Scan and Repair does what a reinstall does without the download, and a fresh install keeps the same driver, overlay and overclock problems that were crashing you in the first place. Save it for last.
