WoW Classic dungeons require a group of five — one tank, one healer and three damage dealers — and you must physically travel to the dungeon entrance. There is no random-dungeon teleport in original Classic. Find players through the LFG chat channel, your guild or the Group Finder tool, meet at the door (or get a warlock summon), agree on loot rules, then pull carefully and work through the instance together.
- Hit the level range. Every dungeon has a rough level band. Going in more than a couple of levels under the recommended range means missed attacks and pulls that spiral.
- Pick a role. Warriors and druids tank, priests/paladins/druids/shamans heal, everything else deals damage. Tanks and healers get invited instantly; DPS waits longer.
- Find four other players. Type your class, level and target dungeon in the LFG channel (/join LookingForGroup if you are not already in it), ask in guild chat, or use the built-in Group Finder.
- Travel there. Ride, fly to the nearest flight point, or ask a warlock in the group to summon — a summon needs the warlock plus two other players at the stone.
- Set loot rules before the first pull. Group Loot with Need/Greed is the default norm; some groups run Master Looter for raids-style reserved items. Say it out loud in chat, not after a drop.
- Pull one pack at a time. Classic has no forgiving damage checks. Let the tank pull, mark targets, use crowd control (Polymorph, Sap, Shackle, Hibernate) and drink after fights — mana regen takes real time.
Do WoW Classic dungeons have a random dungeon finder?
No. Original WoW Classic deliberately keeps the manual system: you build the group yourself and travel to the instance portal. The Group Finder tool lists players looking for the same dungeon, but it does not teleport anyone. Later Classic expansion re-releases changed this, so what you see depends on which Classic version you are playing.
What level should I start running dungeons?
The earliest instances open up in the teens — Ragefire Chasm for Horde inside Orgrimmar, and the Deadmines and Wailing Caverns shortly after for the respective factions. From there dungeons appear roughly every five to ten levels, and running the one that matches your level is one of the fastest, most gear-efficient ways to level.
How do I get inside if I keep dying on the way?
Dungeon entrances often sit inside hostile zones. Travel as a group rather than solo, use the nearest flight path and run the last stretch together. If one player is far away, a warlock summon at the meeting stone skips the whole trip. Meeting stones themselves let you summon, not queue.
What loot rules should my group use?
For a normal five-man, Group Loot with Need before Greed is standard: press Need only for your class and spec, Greed for anything you would vendor or disenchant. Announce the rule at the start, and if someone is disenchanting for shards, agree who gets them before you pull.
