The best way to farm honor in WoW Classic is running Alterac Valley, ideally in a coordinated premade that rushes the enemy general. AV pays bonus honor for every tower, captain and general kill on top of the win and the constant stream of honorable kills, so a fast 15-minute game beats any world PvP or Warsong Gulch pug for honor per hour.

Honor sources ranked by honor per hour

MethodWhy it worksCatch
Alterac Valley premade (rush strategy)Bonus honor for towers, captain, general and the win; dozens of HKs per gameNeeds a group that actually rushes instead of turtling
Alterac Valley pugSame bonus honor, no organisingLong turtle games tank your hourly rate
Arathi BasinBonus honor per resource milestone, mid-length gamesLosing games still pay, but slowly
Warsong Gulch premadeVery fast wins when both premades queue-snipeLittle bonus honor; pug WSG is the worst hourly rate
Mark turn-insRepeatable quest: 3 marks from each battleground = a lump of honor plus reputationOnly as fast as you accumulate marks
World PvP (Tarren Mill, Blackrock Mountain)Fun, zero queueDiminishing returns on the same players kill the rate quickly

How to squeeze the most honor out of a week

  1. Queue AV during Call to Arms weekends. The bonus honor for objectives is increased, and queues pop faster because everyone is there.
  2. Join or build a rush premade. Skip the mid-map fights, drop the towers on the way, kill the captain if it is cheap, then burn the general. The honorable kills you miss are more than made up by ending games in a fraction of the time.
  3. Stay grouped. Honor from a kill is shared with your party, so tagging fights with a full group in a big brawl earns more than solo-hunting stragglers.
  4. Turn in marks every time you hold three of each. Do not sit on a stack; the honor is the same whenever you cash it, so turn it in and free the bag slots.
  5. Avoid repeat targets. Killing the same player again within 24 hours pays less each time and soon pays nothing. Rotate battlegrounds if you keep meeting the same faces.
  6. Kill within level range. Players who are grey to you award no honor at all, so camping a low-level zone is a waste of a raid slot.

How much honor can you farm per hour in Classic?

A well-run AV premade that finishes games in 12-20 minutes is the top of the chart; pug AV that turtles can drop below half of that. Arathi Basin lands somewhere in the middle, and pug Warsong Gulch is usually the lowest hourly rate because most of its honor comes from kills rather than objectives.

Exact numbers swing hard with your class, the other faction's queue habits and whether it is a bonus weekend, so judge a method by a few games in a row, not a single lucky pop.

Does Classic honor reset every week?

Yes. Honor is tallied per week and converted into rank progress at the weekly reset, so what matters for ranking is how you finish among other players on your server that week. Standing on a bank of honor from a great Monday does nothing if everyone else out-farmed you overall.

That is why serious rankers plan honor in blocks: heavy AV on bonus weekends, mark turn-ins saved for the same week, lighter play when the weekly gain has already carried them.

Is world PvP worth it for honor?

As a supplement, yes; as a main method, no. Open-world fights at Blackrock Mountain or the Hillsbrad crossing feel great, but the same 20 enemies keep dying to you, and diminishing returns strip the honor out of every repeat kill. Battlegrounds refresh your pool of targets constantly and add objective bonus honor on top.

Should I farm honor before or after hitting 60?

After. Honor is far more plentiful at 60 because the level-60 AV bracket runs the most games and the biggest fights, the mark turn-in quests scale with level and your gear actually lets you survive a pull. Leveling brackets in WSG and AB are fine for fun but are a slow grind for honor.
