WoW: Forever keeps the three classic Hunter trees and the level-10 talent start, and adds a new 16-point milestone. The headline new talents are Summon Hawk (Beast Mastery, 16 points), Lone Wolf (Marksmanship, 11 points: 20% more damage with no active pet) and Sniper Shot (Marksmanship, 31 points: a 4-second cast with a 45-yard base range).

Forever Hunter talents at a glance

This comes from Blizzard's Hunter class deep dive, published September 30, 2026. The beta is still running, so any of these numbers can change before launch on November 4.

What does Summon Hawk do?

Summon Hawk is the new 16-point Beast Mastery milestone. It deals instant damage and calls in a Hawk that fights for 18 seconds, and you can have up to two Hawks out at once. It shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot, so every time you press it, you give up an Arcane Shot.

How does Lone Wolf work in Forever?

Lone Wolf is the 11-point Marksmanship milestone. It gives you 20% more damage while you have no active pet, which opens up a real petless ranged build. In the first beta version, you also lost 4% damage with a pet out. Blizzard's beta notes from September 24 removed that penalty, so keeping a pet out now costs you only the 20% bonus.

What is Sniper Shot?

Sniper Shot is the 31-point Marksmanship capstone. It has a 4-second cast, a 15-second cooldown and a 45-yard base range. After you use it, your next three Shots gain 10 extra yards of range. It suits opening a pull, and fights where you can stand still and shoot from far away.

What changed for Survival and pets?

Survival gets Counterattack at 16 points and Strider Kick at 21, which is an instant weapon attack plus 30% movement speed for 3 seconds. The 31-point capstone is Lacerating Strikes, which makes Mongoose Bite bleed over 21 seconds. Hunter pets now take their stats from your gear and no longer benefit from player stat buffs. Foxes are a new pet family. Each family knows Bite or Claw and Dive or Dash, and also has one unique ability. Hunters still have no stun or interrupt, and the 8-yard dead zone is still there. On the beta, Auto Shot's hidden cast time was shorter than it should be. Blizzard has confirmed that is a bug, and the intended cast is 0.5 seconds.
